I need a weekend to get over the weekend. No sleep due to dog/neighbour issues, and this led to us (including lyrian, who bravely put up with our usual neighbour stress *g*) virtually passed out by Sunday afternoon. Heh. We couldn't even find the energy to go bowling.

Saturday morning, I slept in a little past our 5am agreement, but my sister woke me pretty early to let the dogs outside because she was elbow deep in scone batter at the time. Skulker has taught herself how to *jump* fences after we've taken away her usual escape routes under or through them. *sigh* So she requires constant supervision when outside now. Then we had to take all the baking up to the fete, and race back to take Darcy to his 8am vet appointment.

Darcy has been drinking a lot of water and consequently peeing a lot and I had that diabetes thought, so we took him in for tests. After the blood sample, his sugar diabetes test came up negative so yay, but there's another type of diabetes he could have, and the vet needed a pee sample. He was all, "Take him outside and try, but you might need to take him home and relax before he pees." Pfft. There's one thing my dog is good at and that's peeing, so we'd barely even got him out the door and said, "Toilet," and his leg was cocked. Heh. So Darcy's peeing, and I'm holding the lead yelling, "Quick!" and my sister is running up with the little cup to grab a sample and consequently geeting peed on herself. Ah, good times.

Turns out it was very dilute, which is bad for Darcy, but good for my sister who had it running down her arm. There's some big explanation about it being either hormones not being released to his kidneys properly, or his kidneys aren't responding to it, and he needs more tests after a water fast. So today poor Darcy isn't allowed any water and after work, my sister has to get another pee sample to take up to the vets.

The vet has another German Shepherd with a similar problem and all it needs is hormone eyedrops twice a day for the rest of its life so hopefully that's all Darcy will need and he'll be back to normal (and not peeing quite so much.)

Anyway, we had to drop Darcy back home, get changed out of doggy clothes, and head back to the fete to work. lyrian and I became kitchen hands for the morning and it was acutally quite fun, except for the wrinkly fingers I got from washing a gazillion plates and teacups and getting nauseous from the smell of all the cream I had to wash off them. We were pretty tired by the end of the day, though, and then had to go back home and do some fencing and watch my Swannies that night. We won, so that was a plus. I'm trying very hard not to get my hopes up, but after last year, I have a taste for Grand Finals.

The neighbours have tied a large platic drum to one of their dogs so the combined noise of that being dragged along all night, and Skulker barking at it meant very little sleep and we slept in a little on Sunday so were running late for the markets. We usually try to go early because of the heat and consequent crankiness, but it couldn't be helped.

The stalls we usually go for were absent, but we found cheap beanie babies which were omg so cute and none of us could resist, and I also found the coolest dodgy toy ever, which I will photograph later because it's best to have the visual. I guess it was worth it to get fun toys, and I also got a great big pile of toys etc from lyrian so my week shall be occupied.

Next weekend, we have to start the yard work and cleaning in preparation for a visit from the parents. And also plot the demise of the neighbours, which we do constantly, but it's time time get serious. *g*

I have to talk about Idol (OMG marry me, Dean!) and PSYCH (OMG best episode ever!) later. And catch up on comments and memes. This no-computer weekend thing is causing hassles. I just get caught up by the end of the week and it starts all over again.

weekend, pets
