covers month - as heard on television

You know what it’s like - watching your favourite show and a song comes on that’s familiar but not quite how you remember it. Yep, it’s Covers from TV Shows time.

Smallville has had quite a few. Some not so good, some OMG awesome and probably playing during the greatest episode/moment in the history of the show and if you don’t know what I’m talking about already, you’ll have to wait until the end of the section. *g*

We’re starting with the bad: Lonestar - Walking in Memphis. Y’know, if I didn’t love the Perry ep so very much, I might be more upset by this cover.

Ryan Adams - Wonderwall (Oasis). I could only find this live version of his cover. *shrug*

Eva Cassidy - Time After Time (Cyndi Lauper). Actually, this one comes close as far as great soundtrack moments go...mmm, wet Angel!Clark. But, of course, the real honour goes to:

Johnny Cash - Hurt (Nine Inch Nails). Dude. I cried for a *week* after that. And I still tear up a little just thinking about it.

Next, The O.C.. The show that tells us what bands all the hip young things are listening to.

Matt Pond PA - Champagne Supernova (Oasis). Season 2 sucked ass, but it gave me this moment and I think I can almost forgive everything for it. Seth + Summer + Spider-man upsidedowness in the rain + this song = blissed out me.

Death Cab For Cutie - All is Full of Love (Bjork). This is one of my faves, actually, and I like it better than the original but I’m sure Bjork fans will disagree.

Jimmy Eat World - Last Christmas (Wham…or was that just George?). Ah, Chrismukkah soundtrack, how I love thee...and listen to year round. Ahem.

Can’t leave out Buffy so here’s one from the soundtrack which I’m sure you all have: The Sundays - Wild Horses (Rolling Stones). Ah, Angel. *weeps a little*

Also must include at least one crap Queer as Folk techno cover so here’s Katty B - Let’s Hear it for the Boy. Hey, it’s kinda catchy. If you picture Justin dancing around naked and stuff.

And lastly, a song used in Neighbours a lot over the years and it’s probably been played in H&A back in its day. Something For Kate - Harpoon (Jebediah). It took me a while to figure out who did it originally. Heh. I’m still not sure which version I like better because I do love this one, but I love the whinier vocals with Jebediah, too.

Whew! To compliment this, somebody should dig out covered TV Theme songs! I heard a wicked cool "Charles in Charge" once. Ooh! And a punk "Littlest Hobo" which I loved. Must find them again.
