An 8.9 magnitude earthquake hit Japan (about 240 miles east of Tokyo) about 5 hours ago, triggering a huge (23ft?) tsunami. It hit the northeast of Japan real hart, but it didn't stop there. It's roaring it's way to other Pacific countries.
We have a tsunami warning effective all of the west coast of North America. Official 'arrival' time for us is in less than 6 hrs. I heard officials are already asking people near the coast or in low grounds to evacuate.
I've never experienced a real tsunami hitting our coastline before. Although I don't live by the coast, it's still scary to think about it. I can only pic the tsunami from the movies I saw before.
Hopefully when I wake up tomorrow, there won't be any devastated news from here.
Prayers go out to all the Japanese people. Hope the number of casualties are minimal.
