A literal shot in the arm is a brief piece from The Bloggess on getting the vaccine; mostly to be read for the many comments from folks enthusing on the pluses of becoming lizard people (who knew that was a thing people are actually saying?).
Tons of fabulous and
striking animal photos ok, I don't care that you're in some kind of magic post-apocalyptic world, geographic markers (like rivers) wouldn't change. So you can't follow the Columbia River north from Portland to Seattle, staying to the west of it, because the damn river runs east to west to the Pacific Ocean, denoting the border between Oregon & Washington. And listing names of actual small communities along the river means you did at least some research, so shouldn't you know the direction it runs?
Beau on the real group that Biden needs to target effectively - and it's probably not the one you'd first think of.
Let's talk about what Biden missed at CPAC (Part 2).... Question of the Day
If you didn’t have to work for money what would most like to volunteer for?
probably some sort of book/reading related organization. I'm a big fan of reading, and feel strongly about sharing the joys with others, especially kids. so possibly something like a program providing books for low-income kids
I just heard about this today - so even if I were in NYC (and could afford to eat there) I'd have missed out, as it was just for the weekend. Too bad, it might have been fun to get a selfie with a star.
Madame Tussauds' famous wax figures join diners at Peter Luger Steak House - Diners returning for indoor dining at Brooklyn’s iconic Peter Luger Steakhouse will see some familiar faces helping the restaurant enforce coronavirus safety protocols. Audrey Hepburn, Jon Hamm, Jimmy Fallon and Al Roker are among the celebrity wax figures who will fill Peter Luger’s empty seats when the restaurant opens up for indoor dining on Friday.
A collection of
great cat tweets - I especially love the grumpy ginger family
Feel free to skim on by, as I know I've bitched about this before - but there's no way in the English language that writing "Stileeeees" in any way indicates how anyone would actually whine that name. Unless I've been wrong all these years, and his name is actually Stileys, that ain't the way it works. Same author also wrote Fineeeee, which just makes me shake my head. Say the damn word to yourself, dragging it out the way you want your character to, and get a clue about which vowel to elongate!
Someone in a fic was eating prawn crackers, which I'd heard of before but not really thought about. My interest was piqued this time, and I'm wondering if anyone has any recommendations for a really good brand? I mean, I like shrimp, but if I'm going to explore, might as well go for the tastiest, right?
It's so weird when I read a story which seems new to me, leave kudos and prepare to rec it, only to discover I'd actually done so a year ago. But how did I not leave kudos then back then? Unless a story is newly posted, I tend to check my journal for author names, because this has happened before - I know I read lots, but when I discover I'd previously read a story, I always wonder how I can fail to retain even one detail.
