Read a book called The Napoleon of Notting Hill while in Florida. It was written in 1904 by G.K. Chesterton and it is set in 1984 (Orwell: thief?). It has an interesting premise, read about it at amazon if you wish to. Chesterton, in the first chapter, ridicules the modern prophets of his day (H.G. Wells et al with ideas of a technological future) and then prophesies a 1984 identical to 1904 except that his 1984 English government has accommodated for the apathy of the people: gov't officials are selected by a random process, democracy is no more. The action of the book undoes this system while defending patriotism and pitching humorist/nihilist vs. sentimentalist/religious. A fun read, anyway.
Next up is the rereading of Dune.

Florida, by the way, was rull nice.
