Ski Weekend

Aug 04, 2006 00:31

Last weekend a group of us went up to Mt Hotham for a ski weekend. There wasn't much snow around when we got there but it was pretty cold. We got there pretty late and went straight to bed after a long drive. We were up at 7:30am, had a quick breakfast and hit the Big D slops. Prarthana, Nick and Karen had never skied before so Duana, Hannes and I help them get going. Karen was having trouble but the other two picked it up pretty quickly. We spent the morning at Big D and went back to the lodge for lunch. After lunch Hannes and I went and skied around the village chair where there were a few harder runs. That was pretty much all that was open for the weekend. At night we cooked a pumpkin rissotto which was really nice and made baked pears for dessert. We were all really tired but we had about 6 bottles of spirits to get through.

Duana had fallen asleep in the room the rest of us started drinking at about 8pm. By about 10pm, 3 of the 6 were throwing up.

Nick, Duana and I stayed downstairs while all the wasted people slept upstairs. I ended up going to bed at 5am but I was up by about 9am to ski. I headed out before everyone else because they were in no state to ski. I spent most of the day near the village chair and had lunch at hotham central. In the afternoon Prarthana went to Big D and did a blue run. She didn't quite manage to do it without falling over though. Still good for a first time. It snowed all sunday so we had to put chains on the car and the weather was getting worse as we drove home. We stopped at Tin dog for pizza and then home for sleep.
