Phillies J.C. Romero Used an Aromatase Inhibitor...6-OXO...Doesn't Like to Swallow
195 205 pound Philadelphia Phillies relief pitcher J.C. Romero won two games in the World Series, including the clinching Game 5 against the Tampa Bay Rays.
Problem? Romero tested positive twice for use of a banned supplement: Aug. 26 (before a Phillies-Mets game) and on Sept. 19 (before a Marlins game).
An arbitrator has ruled Romero was guilty of negligence and J.C. has been suspended for 50 games. He'll lose $1.25 million in salary.
When and where did this arbitration meeting take place you might be asking? Romero had his hearing in Tampa, before the first two games of the World Series. Yes, that's right, he went to the hearings in the morning before reporting to Tropicana Field.
"If people are intimidated because Major League is a big organization, so be it," Romero said. "But they are not going to make an example of me thinking that I’m just a dumb ass Puerto Rican. It’s not going to happen. It’s not the way I’m built." No, he's built with 6-OXO.

Either way, we don't have the MLB banned substance list and therefore do not know if it was either 6-OXO, trans-Resveratrol, or another not listed ingredient that tripped the reliever up. But the 6-OXO is usually used in between steroid cycles in order to lower the body's estrogen levels....
