This narrative doesn't even make any sense. If the US intelligence community was so worried about Edward Snowden spilling secrets to the Chinese, the last thing they would do is go public and give him a ringing endorsement to verify his knowledge. This "former" CIA official is basically saying, "Hey Chinese intelligence, you definitely want to talk to this guy who's currently residing on your territory because he can give you some really juicy secrets about how we do business."
Give me a break. This is propaganda aimed at the American public -- nothing more.
Remember, the Chinese have spies, as do the Russians. I'm sure they already have a good idea of what the NSA has been up to. And therein lies the problem -- that the Chinese and the Russian governments know more about what the US government is doing than the American people.
Come on, US government, I'm so disappointed in you right now. You're not even making the effort to make the bullshit you feed us sound plausible anymore. It's like you're not even trying.
