Author's Note: Now that Finals are over and my brain is beginning to recover, here is the third installment.
Ziggy woke up to the sound of crashing pots and pans from downstairs. Muttering under his breath he grabbed the clock from his bedside table and looked at it. 2:30 in the morning, now he was pissed. He was having on of the best and worst dreams. In it Venjix had come back, but because of that he got to see his old friends again, the team was back together and he was reunited with Dillon. The group of hellions that decided it was smart to sneak into the cookie jar in the middle of the night were so grounded.
He stood and grabbed his forest green robe, tying the waistband tightly he opened the door and walked into the dark hallway. He trotted silently down the stairs so as to get the maximum scare out of them. Half awake eyes still fogged over from deep slumber he got closer to the bubbly giggles of the midnight offenders. Rounding the corner he said in his sternest voice “Do you have any idea what time it is, why are you out of bed?” His eyes focused on the sight of Dr. K, Tenaya, Flynn, Gemma, and Dillon sitting in a circle with open ice cream containers in front of them.
Dr K. had her spoon halfway to her face, a spoonful of double dutch chocolate ice cream slowing melting away. Flynn stood there mouth agape vanilla ice cream starting to drip out. Gemma catching sight of Flynn in her peripherals raised her hand and closed Flynns mouth. Dillon and Tenaya exchanged looks of shock and disbelief. Ziggy shook his head thinking he had lost his mind and when he re-focused a second time he realized his dream wasn't a dream. Venjix was back, the team had come back together, and Dillon was his once more.
“Uh, sorry reflex. Continue what you were doing. Though what you should be doing is sleeping, instead of gorging on the Ice Cream we just got today.” He spoke softly but in a paternal tone. Flynn spoke first as he was always the one to crack the jokes when Ziggy wasn't. “Careful lad, yer startin to sound like our fearless leader.” Ziggy smiled “Someone has to be the parent while Scott and Summer are asleep.” he crossed to the cupboard pulling a glass down, he filled it with water. He walked out of the kitchen calling over his shoulder “Don't stay up too late guys.” he chuckled lightly as he walked up the stairs.
He hadn't been dreaming, it was all real, the bad and the good. As he walked through the new Garage he wondered how he could have possibly mistaken the metal catwalk for the warm hardwood floors of the orphanage. How he could have mistaken the sterile smell in the air for the cinnamon and pine scent that overtook the hallways of the orphanage. Damn it now he wanted cookies. He reached his door, wrapping his hand around the handle he pushed open the door and entered his room. “Jeez, I am so out of it.”
He turned on the bedside lamp as he sat on the bed and looked at the room that he and Dillon shared. A large cherry wood wardrobe, that Dillon and Tenaya had found, stood at one corner of the room taking up a fourth of the wall. His clothes fit inside with Dillons without any problem, he had become a minimalist in the sartorial field Jeans and T-Shirts was all he needed really. A large stereo system sat opposite from his bed, Dillon knowing how much he liked music, found it in a junkyard and fixed it up with the help of Flynn and Gemma. Dillon also found the music library that took up the rest of the wall the stereo stood against. He chuckled to himself, Dillon had gone through so much to make sure that he would love the room. He even went as far as framing pictures of the two of them up and pictures of the rest of the team all over the walls. In a very tasteful way of course.
Ziggy looked at the pictures, he remembered all the good days that they represented. His and Dillon's very first actual date, the waiter accidentally spilled pasta sauce on Dillon's shirt. Flynn and Gemma's wedding, it was a week before Dillon and Tenaya left and one of two times he had ever seen Dillon in his idea of formal wear. Summers attempted wedding, that was funny all around, especially considering that the Doc wore a wedding dress. She looked beautiful of course, just like Summer. The food fight that they all had, he didn't remember how it started all he remembered was he was picking mashed potatoes out of his hair for weeks. The Award Ceremony that, now that he thought about it, should have never happened.
He sighed lightly as he perused the music library Dillon had constructed. He picked the artist that sounded promising, well it was the title of the song that stood out to him did most of the work. Ignoring a song titled Trouble Sleeping seemed like sticking your nose up to the fates. Ziggy wasn't one to mess with the grand design, he already had enough to worry about. He really didn't have the time or energy to be dealing with pissed off demi-gods, spirits or whatever the hell they are.
He put the CD in and set the volume low enough so that he could still hear it but it wouldn't keep him awake or anyone else for that matter. It was a low hum in the background. I took my robe off and hung it back up, he slipped back into bed now that he was awake it would take a couple of minutes for him to get back to sleep so he picked up the book he had been reading earlier and tried to kill another chapter. He had barely read one line before he heard the click and creak of his door opening.
Dillon poked his head in slowly, obviously a little wary that he may be irritating Ziggy. “Come in Dillon. I won't bark again.” Dillon smiled his crooked sarcastic smile, the one that left Ziggy weak at the knees. Good thing he was sitting down in bed, though now that he thought about it maybe it wasn't the best place to be when Dillon was hyped up on sugar. He laughed out loud at the thought, when did their roles flip. Normally he was high on sugar and Dillon was the level head.
Dillon quirked his eye at Ziggy's outburst, “Okay, care to explain yourself. You're acting strange tonight.” Ziggy smiled, the warm feeling he got anytime he was around Dillon was back. The feeling you get from that first sip of coffee on a winter morning. The chill you get from watching the final scene of a romance movie when the two characters beat the odd and finally get together. The exhilaration of riding a roller coaster. Each of these feelings and so many more was how he felt with Dillon. Ziggy sighed lightly as Dillon entered the room closing the door behind him. “Heh, it's just gonna take a little time to get into the swing again.” He smirked again as he crossed to the bed and sat next to Ziggy. “You thought we were the kids.” He said still smirking. “Yeah, I did.” Ziggy chuckled “I was convinced that it was all a dream.”
“It's never gonna end is it?” Ziggy said in a voice barely above a whisper. Dillon looked at his lover and saw that his eyes were distant, distracted somehow. He knew he meant the fighting, the war. They had a small peace but Venjix came back, and he was stronger than before. Ziggy sighed, like he always did when he was thinking about serious matters. He leaned against Dillon closing his eyes and taking a deep breath. Without thinking about it Dillon wrapped his arm around Ziggy's shoulders and placed his head on top of Ziggy's. “I don't know Zig. I really don't know.”
Dillon kissed the top of Ziggy's head, and stayed there he closed his eyes and inhaled. It had been so long since he was so close to Ziggy. He didn't know how he managed it before. He realized how much he missed Ziggy lying in his arms, how much he missed the smell of Ziggy, how much he missed his laughter, or the looks he made when he scrutinized his appearance in the mirror. “I really missed you Zig.” Ziggy smiled, Dillon had been saying that about every five minutes since he and the team had arrived at Kenmore. “So you keep telling me.” Ziggy chuckled under his breath, it was nice that Dillon missed Ziggy as much as he missed Dillon. Things had
been so incomplete when the two of them were apart.
“Zig, I'm so sorry...” Ziggy put his hand over Dillons mouth before he could finish thought. “Dillon stop saying you're sorry. I know and understand why you left and you honestly have nothing to be sorry about do you understand.” Ziggy gave him the look that always said he meant business. Dillons constant apologies were unnecessary and honestly getting a little annoying. He let his hand drop from Dillons mouth eying him waiting for Dillon to start apologizing again, he was ready to clamp his hand over Dillons mouth again if he tried. All Dillon did though was say okay and kiss him lovingly on the lips.
The kiss lasted a few minutes and slowly became less and less innocent. Both of them started to moan and gyrate slowly, Dillon flipped them over so that he was above Ziggy on the bed. He kissed Ziggy urgently, Ziggy of course returned the kiss was just as much passion and urgency. Dillon flipped off the bedside lamp and said softly “I really missed you Zig.” Ziggy chuckled again and said “Shut up and kiss me.” Dillons low rumbling laugh echoed over the music. “Okay, okay we need to christen these sheets properly anyways.”
