We shall tip toe all night while they just sleep

"Happy Valentines Day"... BAH!

More like.. Happy... Smell-entines Day. Seriously though.

Actually, according to a reliable source (my friend Peter), I am apparently a "juggernaut of love". Allow me to explain: last night I called up a certain special girl and asked her if she wanted to go on a Bali-tine date today (Bali's is the local frozen yogurt place). She shut me down since she already had a girls' night planned at the church, and I shrugged and went about my business. Well, after classes today, she calls me back and asks me if I still want to go. Why of course I do.

The End.

P.S. I decided that I wanted this post to be my Valentines anecdote and just let the post scriptum be my actual update. So, this weekend was AMAZING and I want to thank Donna (teenchristian) and Em (rescue) for their help. Saturday morning I drove down and picked up Michelle from her place and set out for L.A. Along the way we made our traditional stop at the Camarillo In n' Out for delicious grilled cheeses and neopolitan shakes. After that, we drove down to Citywalk in LA, which I didn't even realize was a part of Universal Studios. I had never been there and Michelle had only visited as a wee lass. So we cruised around and just generally saw the sites and made everything fun.

While we were there, our friend Piper called and let us know she and her boyfriend, Gary, were in LA. He was about to fly back to England and they were wandering the city before heading to LAX. So we cruised over to Hollywood Blvd and met up with them for an hour. Gary is one of the funniest guys I have ever met, mostly because I could only understand half of what he said. If I wasn't such an avid Eddie Izzard and Wallace & Gromit enthusiast, I doubt I would have understood anything. We left the lovebirds and headed over to the Avenues of Art & Design to stroll about and kill time.

See, up until this point I did not tell Michelle what we were doing, since this weekend was her pre-birthday present and I wanted it to be a surprise. There is this internationally known group from South Africa called Ladysmith Black Mambazo. They do traditional Zulu singing (called Isicathamiya) and dancing. I guess they have recorded with Paul Simon, performed for President Mandela and two queens, been nominated for over six Grammy's, and appeared in several movies. So they are big time and they came to Cal Poly this last Wednesday night. Michelle's life passion is dancing and she is crazy-go-nuts about anything involving Africa. She made a huge deal about going to see this group when they came, but she ended up having to work that night and was really bummed. So, I just found out where they were playing next and got us tickets to see them in LA.

Anyways, long story short: Michelle hates surprises and she said this was the best birthday surprise ever. Yes!! The performance was absolutely incredible and I can not even hope to describe it. If you ever have the opportunity to see them or Vusi Mahlasela, take it. As a special encore, Ben Harper came out and performed a song with Ladysmith at the end, which was sheer beauty. The fact that they were singing about Jesus made it perfect. We didn't get back to San Luis Obispo until 2:30 and I wouldn't have changed a thing. Oh, and pictures are good I suppose.

Outside The Cheese Store. Yes, that's right.
Oh yeah, and I cut most of my hair off.
