Weekend

My weekend was fun.
Saturday, went downtown with Froggie to watch the Rose Parade. You see, each year in June is the Festival of Roses in Portand. A month long city celebration, there are fireworks, a fairgrounds set up by the river, and parades of all sorts including the largest the Rose Parade. The parade is ruled by the Rose Queen who is chosen from a Court of Rose Princesses who are high school girls and the Royal Rosarians who are a bunch of dapper old dudes in cream colored suits and straw hats. This year is the 100th anniversary of the Rose Festival so we had to go see the parade. It was fun, but not as spectacular as I had expected and it was raining and cold throughout and POURING by the end of the parade. So Froggie and I grabbed some burritos and ducked into a movie theater to warm up. We ate our burritos in the theater (which was really fun because I had never thought of smuggling in burritos before) and watched an Irish film called "Once". The movie was okay, worth watching with Froggie.

That evening Carl and I went to the North American Organic Brewing Festival in Overlook park. It's hosted by a local organic brewery called Roots (who is awesome) and there were about 20 other breweries from all over the country offering tastes of their organic beers. There were quite a few good ones. We liked the Fishtales IPA the best, even though when we've tried their beer in the bottle it has always been dissapointing, on tap it was great. After tasting everything we went to the Roots pub over in SE and had a couple more beers and stopped by the Lucky Lab after that. We went home and pretty much passed out after having more beer than we intended.

Sunday morning I had my first session with my personal training in a month. It was great to get back on track...though I am still sore today. Then Carl and I went to Daniel and Jessie's for Brunch at about 12:30pm. We had such a lovely time at brunch we didn't leave until 12:30am!! It was kind of funny, but genuinely fun and we all enjoyed ourselves. Jeremy and Jess showed up for a couple of hours as well as some neighbors and Jessie's kids were also around and about and at one point we all played basketball which after a few mimosas was really fun.

This week I am working on reading some manuscripts from a couple of new authors, interviewing someone about sales techniques and working on more marketing and promotional ideas. It's busy with work....
