Failed Experiment

I had a rough day at work today, and decided that what I needed most was to just spend some quality time with my family. So, in spite of the fact that I easily had another two (at minimum) hours of work left to accomplish just to break even, I decided to wrap it up and leave the volume for tomorrow. I left work and arrived home earlier than I would normally even be considering leaving work on any given day. A full hour to two hours earlier than normal.

Ate dinner with karen, fed the dogs real quick, and hopped into the shower so that I could relax and spend time with the ones I love. Except... when I got out of the shower, no one wanted to spend any time with me. Karen was in bed. Jack was on a quest to finish all three Jurrasic Park movies before bedtime. And Delaney was fully engaged in her own little world of creating and exploring whatever game it was that she was playing.

I tried to get them to watch a show together. Asked if anyone wanted to go shopping and walk around a store together. No takers.

So, here I am. In my usual spot downstairs in front of my screens and TV. It's only just now a few minutes before 7:15 PM. I'm usually not even home from work by now.

I'll pay for it, big time, tomorrow. I left scanners still needing uploaded. Files not researched. Batches for the morning work not yet created. And a huge pile of project files surrounding my desk that I could have been at least half way through working right about now with no one else there to disturb my work.

I won't make this mistake again. Best to just stay at work, get it done and out of the way. Tomorrow, it will take me at least 4 hours (if not more) to catch up to the two hours of work I left behind. I guess I should throw on my pants and go to Walmart or Target to get the items I need (new ear buds for listening to music, dog food, hair conditioner, etc...) but I'm just too bummed out to put forth the energy at this point.

I could watch my Tuesday night shows.... Nah. Oh well.

lonely, loneliness, tired
