The 'I Write Like' Meme

Jul 23, 2010 12:55

I've done this many times off and on for the last week with many different texts (both complete texts and sections of text). And my most common result was ...

I write like
Charles Dickens
I Write Like by Mémoires, Mac journal software. Analyze your writing!

This is especially true of my Remember WENN fics; 3 of the 4 came back as Charles Dickens.

Titles of my fics are in parentheses

My North and South fics:
Jack London (After the Riot)
Daniel Defoe (Learning from Mistakes)

My Remember WENN fics:
Charles Dickens (The Holiday Must Go On, Shades of Grey and Mr. Roberts)
Raymond Chandler (An Ideal Husband)

Other snippets brought: Margaret Mitchell, Ian Fleming, Mario Puzo, Bram Stoker, Anne Rice, James Fenimore Cooper (owch!), Stephen King (owch!) and Dan Brown (triple ouch!).

Alas I could never get Jane Austen.

The whole thing is supposedly built around the programs that identify spam in our e-mail. (ETA: see interview here)

We ran some copy from work through it and got all sorts of funny results. The number one result was Cory Doctorow.

charles dickens, jane austen, writing, north and south, remember wenn
