Go

Ok, so I have been saying for a week that I was going to make a post about Go, so my apologies to those who have been waiting. For those that don't know, Go is an ancient oriental game, played with simple white and black stones. A good introductory description is available here from the American Go Association (AGA).

For those interested in learning, I have three recommendations:

a) Read the pamphlet available from the AGA called The Way to GO

b) Learn in a couple of easy steps, supposed to be the least painful way. This is found on Mindy McAdams site called What is Go? which is a great introduction. The site is here, and the steps are here. This was the first site I read, and I found it really helpful.

c) The third method is more interactive, and I found it after the Mindy McAdams site. It has about 40 tiny (ie one page) interactive lessons. I found this really helpful and got a lot out of it. It is called the Interactive Way to Go and is really great.

Ok, so those are the basics to get the rules. After that if you want to play, you can either find someone in person to play with or you can play online at somewhere like Yahoo games. As well, you can play online at various internet go servers if you have a client that works with them. If anyone is interested I can post some good Mac and Windows go programs to play against as well.

I think that is enough for now, I will post more later about other resources and such.
