erotica

Ok, so I know the title to this seems a little strange, but bear with me. I just finished reading Belinda by Anne Rice (writing as Anne Rampling). Now this was a book that was supposed to be an erotic novel in the vein of Lady C and such, not just smut. The basic premise is a painter and writer of children's books falls in love with a girl, and ( Read more... )

Ooh, book posts, I love 'em! We could go on and on and on.....

But anyway, the point at hand. We read similar stuff a number of times, so I've put the book (anne rice one) on hold at the library to read through. Currently working on the hobbit, much better than LOTR by the way. So I'll read it and see what I think. If I can remember I;ll try the other one you mentioned as well, but you may have to remind me. Sudden thought of 'oooh, livejournal/online book club'

I'm such a geek.

As for other books that might be similar, I think the best one I've read really is probably the Last Herald-Mage trilogy by Mercedes Lackey. The first one in particular, Magic's Price. It jsut sort of hits me in a lot of ways, it's very hard to describe. Obviously different than what you're talking about, but take a look at it. I could go on and on about it, but hey, read it first, then we can bitch back and forth about it. Ooh, and on another tangent type thing, I found Regina's Song by david and Leigh Eddings (not fantasy) a great read.

Well, yes I agree we read similar stuff, and I think you will really enjoy it, but I must warn it isn't exactly my usual fare. Just thought I should point that out in case you hate it and blame me! As to the Lackey, agreed, that is one of her best as far as I am concerned. I also have to agree with your issues with LOTR, I find the hobbit much more approachable, the LOTR was something I felt I had to read, otherwise it was like wading through the Iliad at times with all the names.

So, do we really want to think about doing a community or something for posts about books?

From your post I wasn't expecting it, but I've been branching out in what I read lately as well, so hey whatever works. I'll give anything a shot once right? It can't be worse than, say the great gatsby or robinson crusoe, and I was forced to read those....*grin*

The community idea interests me...you think we'd use it enough?

Hi. I found your LJ by doing a search for my own interests. In response to this post, I'm propably going to tell you way more about myself than I normally tell strangers, but it struck a chord with me ( ... )
