So I went to New York on Tuesday after my radio show... that went very well by the way.
We took the train up... my parents and I. It was fun. We chatted the whole way there and my mom even took the subway which is such a step that I can't even begin to tell you. I swore my mom n dad were goign to get a divorce the last time my dad recomended taking the subway.
Our hotel was badass. Our room smelled like pink grapefruit and everything was uber-modern and clean. I enjoyed it a lot. We walked around the city and went into H&M where i fell in love with a jacket that was a hair too small... and they had like 14329873984 of them and they were all the same size... so that was a burn... but the damage was minimal. Found my makeup @ sephora, got a cup of coffee, saw times square... again... and Rockafeller Center... but i've never seen it that packed before. My moms feet hurt her so i had to wear her high-healed loafers home. That was weird but whatever.
Drank in the hotel, then went out to a real nice italian dinner right off broadway. It was the same place we went last time and it was just as good as i remember. Definitly worth coming back to. From there the troops went home and passed out. It was like 10:30 so it was kinda a burn... but i lived. I went to a bar a few doors down and had a few drinks by myself... then i went to bed.
Today was the greatest though. Woke up and went to Ben Ash for brunch. 3 eggs over hard, home fries and a bialie later we were off to shop again. I got this real rad little Rent picture and gloves to match this scarf I have. It was so warm in the city it was reiculous!!! Around 1:30 we headed back towards the theater. We waited in line a bit, but our seats were incredible. We went to go see RENT which was something i've been dying to see since I was about 12... and at Camp Louise and everyone had the soundtrack and sang along and told me all about it. I saw the movie and thought it was great, but the theater performance was incredible. The dancing and the music and the singing and the show was incredible. It really was striking how unique of a situation it is too. You would be hard pressed to find that many starving artists in an area like Philadelphia. Most of the poor people are general tasteless white-trash but these people were poor and had real style and unique ideologies. Only in New York. The broadway show made more sense to me than the movie. The play omitted that stupid scene I kavetched about before. The theater was so small too... and our seats were so great. The whole experience was just incredible. I really loved it.
Went out to dinner after that... at this microbrewery that had awesome beer... a true rarity. The meal was great... the whole day was jsut great. I am really happy about getting to see that play. ahhh. I am also shocked that my parents liked it. They said it was risque... but that they thought it was phenomenal. From them ... rare. I knew seeing Maureen's hinee would have been a seller for him... but all in all im a happy camper.
just had to report in
