I made these with the help of tagxedo:

This tutorial is very image heavy. Also fair warning, tagxedo can consume hours of your time.

This tutorial is on the basics of tagxedo. The images above are more advanced, but not hard. Let's get started.

Once you have loaded tagxedo, click create. This is what you will see:

The first thing you'll want to do is click Load... This is what pops up:

This is where you will type in the words you want to use. You can also load a text file or enter a webpage. Don't forget to press submit, when you are finished. This is what it will look like:

Next, you can change the shape of your word cloud. Tagxedo has some preloaded images for you to use. You can also make your own images and upload them (This is what I did for the first three images. The last shark image was a preloaded image.)

For this tutorial, I chose a star. From here, it is a matter of playing around with tagxedo.

This is the fonts menu:

This is where you can change the fonts of your word cloud. You can use the preloaded fonts or use the ones you have on your computer. In order to use the ones on your computer, you must know where the actual font file is located.

This is the orientation menu:

This is the themes menu (where you change the colors):

If you want a specific color scheme, click add fonts and type in your hexcodes.
Here is what the word cloud looks like with the theme Maria Antonia:

This is the Word | Layout options menu:

This menu allows you to change how many fonts you use, the maximum word count. You can change the opacity of your background color from 100% to 0%. This is where you can choose to either include or exclude common words.

Now, it's time to save your word cloud. You have several options.

You can save as a jpg or png or you can send your word cloud directly to your printer. You can also share your word cloud in the tagxedo gallery.

Once you have saved your word cloud, you can open your graphics editor and crop it to use in your graphic.

This word cloud was printed out and used as decoration for Halloween.

The font used was MTF Sweet Halloween Dings.
