Darling Harbour was originally part of Sydney recieving wharfs for trade. The area comprised mainly the rail system servicing the whaves and was completely torn down in the early 1980's to make way for the current incarnation of the Darling Harbour tourist presinct. This was my uni from 2002 until I graduated in 2007. I always wondered why the Tower building was so hideous. I knew it was built around the early 70's, as my dad worked on the lifts for Otis shortly after his arrival in Australia. Apparently its called "Brutalist Architecture". I am a big fan of trains. My frequent choice to travel anywhere via train over driving has frequently perplexed my family and friends.
