On video editing and a (brief) roleplay note.
After watching probably the fourth Degrassi video to the song "This is Our Town" by We The Kings, I was inspired to make one for Higurashi. Odd, I know, but it's something about the last line...
Ironically, I have the first four and a half seconds...roughly done and the last 30 seconds completely done (unless I add any audio clips, like I'm planning on doing to the first part). It was the last part that inspired me to make the video in the first place, so who knows if the rest will get anywhere. I've got...ideas for what to do, but I'm partly tempted to cut the song, even though it's only 2 and a half minutes long. That would kinda destroy the build up, though, so no clue. I'm trying really hard to find a good color filter, like all the really, really pretty ones I see on Degrassi videos, but ya know, that's a lot harder than it seems. >> Seriously, how DO people make good things of those? Right now I'm just settling for a high saturation to give the video a brighter tone. Sort of contrast the melancholy feel of the song? I'm not sure, but I like the way it works with the last part.
The only thing that annoys me is that youtube has removed its subbed Higurashi videos since Funimation put the dub up. Yes, I have the videos, but they're on my external harddrive, and its a real pain to connect it. Maybe I should just transfer them to my laptop, that might make things easier. Going back and forth trying to get down the right dialogue I'll need for subbing purposes really would suck.
My big problem is I've got a feel for how I want the tone to be. And a few scenes in mind. But I haven't seen the Higurashi series in so long... So I'm not sure what exact scenes to use for the majority of it. That and the song is relatively new to me. I only found it a week ago. Usually I've listened on repeat to the song I make a video to until I want to chuck it out the window. I'm taking a break on the video for now, but I'm thinking after I get the opening instrumental, which should be pretty simple when I decide how to get the audio clips in, I'll listen to the song non-stop like usual and make a few notes. I don't feel like reviewing the series right now, unfortunately, so maybe when I do feel more like it...well, like I said, I've got 30 seconds done. Two minutes isn't that difficult, and the majority of the song is rather subdued. The thirty seconds before the last thirty seconds will probably be the most difficult part, because of how quick and emotional it's supposed to be, but that's one of the parts where I know what I (generally) want to do.
In other news? I think I've gotten through my funk for RP. Mostly. ^^ I'm still deciding on what to do with a character from Dive who may need to be dropped, but most of my muses are up and wanting to do things now. I'm considering retconning so Rin will have been Data Frozen for awhile, though, because I've been so inactive with her that I really NEED to do that. Rika is remarkably chatty right now, as is Bern, though that's probably because of A) the video I be working on, and B) Umineko EP7. I wish Mion would be as chatty, but she's getting there.
