So the other day my alarm didn't go off and I woke up late for work, and in the course of the morning broke my hair curler. It wasn't so much that I broke it, more that I touched it lightly with my hand and it disintegrated. A tiny screw fell out from somewhere apparently important, and all the pieces fell apart.
I was in a hurry, so I just sort of left the pieces in a pile and continued on out to my car, which was frozen shut, to spend 30 min chipping ice away in the 5 degree weather.
The exposure gave me the sniffles and a cold headache, plus I was late to work. I was pretty stoked to see what else might happen. A car accident? A sudden hailstorm? Maybe my car would actually explode.
I made it safely to work, and instead of universal misfortune I had a slow day. I spent almost two hours discussing mountain lions and grizzly bears with one of my co-workers, and was fed pretzels.
During lunch my switch in luck was finally cemented when I bought a diet coke from the machine, and got two.
I didn't get any customer service calls all day, ran into Santa Claus at the grocery store, was fed cookies all evening, and was cooked homemade-soup for dinner. I even finished the book I was reading and got to play the Super Ninetendo version of Yoshi.
It was a strange day.
Also, has anyone heard of photobombing? I found a site about it. It's basically when you've got a perfectly fine photo, except for some random stranger doing something crazy in the background.
I submitted this to one of the sites:
This is one of my favorites:
