More proof of life.

The good news: Golden archival MSA varnish + Hahnemuhle Photo Rag Baryta = inkjets that look like Ilford's silver gelatin paper. It's sick how amazing my prints are turning out. Now I just need a place to deal with the 20x30's.

The bad news: I wrecked my back yesterday afternoon. I was about to deliver a few prints to my old boss at school when the wind blew one into a mud puddle. As I bent down to pick it up, my foot slipped and I twisted my lower back in a way discouraged in the product literature. Probably voided the warranty, as well. I had to drag my ass to the urgent care today and get some painkillers and muscle relaxers as is customary with this sort of injury. Once the ice packs finish cooling, I'll be icing myself down as well. (PROTIP: Ice for the first 48 hours, heat after.) This couldn't have happened at a better time as I was supposed to leave for Illinois to finally solidify moving plans and this was the first time both I and my mom would be able to make it down there to force my dad to make a decision on buying a house.

As far as that whole situation goes, dad plans on working for another year or two (because let's face it, old academics never die, they just keep lecturing) and he's sick of paying rent. I'm moving in with him to save money and try to turn my studio practice into profit. Hopefully at the end of the two years, I'll have moved to Chicago and be making billions as a celebrity artist/entrepreneur and he'll probably sell the place and move back to Minnesota. Either that or mom will move to Illinois, but that's doubtful.
