Woah! All that waiting to see if it would be confirmed must have had you tied up in knots. See, this is just what I meant about cons being stressful. :-p I'm so glad it worked out for you! :) (I would totally endure the stress for the chance to meet Benedict, however. The odds of him coming to something around here seem so small. I've not given up hope though!)

I just wanted it to get resolved one way or the other. I already had made my peace with losing the 80 GBP I already paid for the hotel. Starfury usually never confirms a guest until it's all settled so we have no idea what happened there. But now all the important people seem to have talked with each other and we are back in the game.

Yes, organizing hotels and flights and tickets is always stressful, but usually so worth it! The fun thing is, I am not even that badly a Cumberbatch fan, not with butterflies in my stomach (yet, maybe I'll see it differently after this weekend!) but I just could not let this opportunity pass. My friend is a much bigger fan than me but she already has a different vacation booked. Bad timing.

If I understand it right, it will be his first con ever? Oh dear. Hopefully he is not scared off and will do more in the future so you'll get your chance. Last time we had a women asking quite some embarrassing questions to poor David Tennant.

Sometimes you just have to suck it up and cut your losses--but I'm glad you didn't have to in this case!

Maryanne and I are both in the "butterflies in the stomach" phase over him, which started with this season of "Sherlock", and are jealous of your good fortune! (She's gone on a binge watching all his other movies, while I'm immersing myself in the Sherlock fandom. That's usually how it goes--she falls in love with the actor, me with the character--see how well we complement each other? :D)

You might be all a-flutter too after this weekend, as he seems very charming and funny in interviews. And even if not, I'm sure it will be a great experience.

I didn't realize it was his first con! Oh my. I do hope people behave themselves. LOL.

Sometimes it just takes a little longer for me ;) For a long while, I wondered what everyone saw in David Tennant, in my eyes he is not THAT good looking, you know. I kept watching his Doctor and waiting for the butterfly effect ;) I mean, I know how it is supposed to feel, right ( ... )

Sometimes it takes a little longer... Don't I know it! We've been watching "Sherlock" since it started, and while I really enjoyed the show, I never got "Sherlocked" until now. Something happened to me while I was re-watching Season Two over again in preparation for Season Three, apparently. The fact that I was going out of my mind thinking I was going to have to wait until January 19th to see it, in retrospect, should have been a clue that I was about to fall, hard. I mean, normally I'm a well-adjusted adult that can wait for things. Honest. LOL ( ... )

Sorry, me again already ;) It's just such an interesting discussion. That's what I love LJ for, as you can't have those at Tumblr where it's only about flashing pictures ( ... )

I love long discussions to! I guess that's why I still cling to LJ even in this era of tweets and Tumblrs ( ... )

Please never leave, I surely would miss you! I have lost quite a lot LJ friends over the past years, who just disappear as their interests change or they just are on Twitter now. 140 characters is way too short for what I want to say ( ... )

Not planning to leave! There's a special experience here you can't get anywhere else. It might be harder to connect with people at first on LJ, but once you do, the friendships seem more enduring. I made a Tumblr recently, just to see what it's all about, and it's really overwhelming. All those bright-colored, blinking, flashing images spilling across my dashboard is too much at times. And the fic links (which is what I'm really interested in) seem to take you to A03 anyway, and I'm already there, so I'm not sure I see the point of the whole experience. Or maybe I'm just old! LOL ( ... )

It's true, I only have place for one guy at a time in my heart. There have been a few I have liked over the years, but usually the new one only came after I started to become less interested in the old one and started to see their flaws and collecting all the stuff suddenly felt like a task instead of being fun. I'm sad to say that even RDA does not sparkle for me anymore as he used to do, he is just an old guy now :( So, John is the main guy at the moment, I already stretched it with leaving David into my heart as well, but still not in the same way, I'm not reading and watching every interview he does. I do if someone gives me a link and I have time, but I don't collect them all. Of course he also is not on Twitter like John ( ... )
