Hauls: Mega Bloks Guardian of Forever

This is the "Guardian of Forever" from the famous episode "City on the Edge of Forever". In which McCoy travels back to New York in the Nineteenthirties, and messes up time, and Kirk and Spock have to follow him to set time straight again. Unfortunately that means that Kirk has to let the woman he fell in love with (played by Joan Collins so who ( Read more... )

Yeah, apart from a few really odd ones, the original episodes are great. I really have no idea why I hesitated so long to watch them. I was under the impression that you needed to have grown up with them, to fully appreciate it. But it hadn't been part of my childhood because of living behind a wall.

Sadly I was spoilered for this particular episode so I knew what to expect in the end. The impact was not as big then as it could have been I guess.

There is also a phantastic comic book I bought:

Look at those pictures, aren't they awesome? The story is the original story, so there are slight changes. Very interesting.

It is a great episode! Unfortunately I was spoilered about the ending before I saw it. So I knew what would happen. Must have been a huge impact when you first saw it.

Yesterday I did a pic of McCoy jumping through ;)

Is that also the episode in which McCoy weeps over the fact that people are cut open and sewed together during surgery? That is my favorite scene in all of the original episodes. I know that it is in one of the "backwards in time" episodes. I adore the originals - even the cheesy ones - because they predate computer generated effects and require imagination to suspend belief.

Cool set!

Not sure to be honest... I watched them all in one big session so they kinda blend together! But there was no hospital theme in this episode. Can it possibly be one of the movies, the one where they are in San Francisco in 1984? They were in a hospital there. That's where I would look for the quote ( ... )

Good point about the wobbly cameras.

And I hate to admit to people, but I can't get into most Classic Who either. Yet I don't think there is one TOS episode I can't watch.

Very strange, considering I also think modern BBC is much better to most American TV. Writing and costumes, anyway. Maybe not action, lol. And do not get me started on the young, pretty faces! I cannot watch anything made by CW for that reason.

Yes, I fully agree. The more British shows I watch (Downton Abbey, Broadchurch, Sherlock, Call the Midwife, London Spy, The Night Manager...) the less impressed I am with American stuff. In British shows, you see normal people. I remember in Torchwood Jack flirting with this a little overweight secretary. She was not really fat, but nothing you would see in an American show. Because of this, I have trouble keeping American actresses apart, as they all look so alike. Same face, same hair. And nobody learns how to open their mouth when speaking. They all speak through their teeth and it is hard for me to understand ( ... )
