Hmm. John B is somewhat taller than James M in real life!

It's that town-twinning Blitz connection again.

Yeah, I guess he is. I never put my figures next to each other before to notice they are alike. Then again, we can blame it on the rough ground?

Yeah, I mean, what are the odds? To meet someone else from Dresden in Cardiff at that exact time?

As for the air shelter, it was indeed quite spooky down there.

I also thought all the posters on the walls were interesting. "Women - do your shopping in the morning hours so the busses are empty when the hard working men come home from the military factories in the afternoon" or something like that. Also posters about how to eat healthy, how to self grow vegetables etc. so everyone stays healthy, and to switch off the light and don't use the heat so much so the energy can be used to make more bombs. So much of the stuff advertised there was just common sense, and everyone should do it anyway, but here it was all displayed with a view onto the war. Very interesting. I should have photographed them all, but there were so many, and the light was not really good.

lovely how you make them look almost life size.

Thank you! You need to photograph them from the right angle, and from close up with the background a bit further away. Once I even lay down on my stomach to get the angle right.

I love the shot of Gwen. Spooky! The pilot ep is my favorite. That, and the episode where Jack is teaching her to shoot. But then, you know who I shipped! LOL

LOL
I think my two favourite episodes are also from season one - the one where Jack fell in love with the other Jack, and the one where the people from the past came into our time and had trouble to adjust. This one was beautiful. I wish there had been more like that.

How do you manage your 'hand held' models? I've tried this, but age and wobbly hands don't help get a sharp photo.

Hi Ian!

It is indeed very difficult holding a figure with one hand and taking pictures with the other. I end up taking lots of them to get one good one.

However, the hand in the first picture actually isn't mine. Someone from our group offered to hold for me and this is so much easier. So my advice would be, have a helping friend nearby?

I did think of something like a 'selfie stick' to hold the figure (at the right distance)attached to the tripod. I might try this over the summer.

But won't you shake even more with a long stick? The best is of course finding a surface to stand them on, a wall or something. Or standing them at the ground and crouch very, very low ;)

May I ask where I can see your pictures? I always love to see the work of others, no matter which fandom. Or are you the Ian from Facebook? I befriended an Ian there recently but he has a different surname so I am not sure.
