I like that theory! It would lead to lots of angst.... and she would need to be comforted....by an unknown source....because...i value my life...and you would kill me if i told you who comforted her...
my first impression was that he died through some action of Kate's, but that she didn't directly or intentionally kill him. i felt the same way at the time, but after watching Outlaws and the scene with her and sawyer playing the "i never" game it became apparent to me that she really may have done this intentionally. even though it may have hurt her maybe she did it to spare many more lives or for some other reason... i don't know. all i know is after watching "outlaws" i felt different about her "killing" the man she "loved".
