I realized I haven't been posting any quotes lately, and while this one isn't from a book I thought it was too adorable not to use.

In my last audience with Mme la dauphine, she deigned to confide in me a very interesting conversation she had had with M. le dauphin. They had been talking about how Mme la comtesse d’Artois would soon arrive and of the sensation at court and with the public if that princess became pregnant before Mme la dauphine

M. le dauphin was the first to talk of this, and hugging Mme la dauphine he said: “Do you really love me?”

Mme la dauphine replied: “Yes, and you cannot doubt it; I love you sincerely and esteem you even more.”

The young prince was very touched at this; he embraced Mme la dauphine lovingly and told her that when they returned to Versailles [from Fontainebleau] he would again follow his regime and that he “hoped that all would be well.”
