Envy The Coast, Anberlin and Taking Back Sunday

I'd say it's about time I did a review/recap of the May 30th show.

So we got to the Commodore at like 7 because that's when ticketmaster told me to go there but apparently doors weren't going to open until 8.  All good though, we were first in line and got front and center straight away along with first dibs at the merch booth.  I tipped their merch guy five bucks and he seemed honestly shocked.  Do people not tip merch guys ever?  I always do.  It's weird.

Ok, anyways Envy on the Coast was the first band and good jesus.  Sorry to any fans of theirs, but they were terrible.  Their music is so chaotic and honest to god they were tuning their guitars while they were fucking playing them ON EVERY SONG.  Oh and the lead singer was wasted and quite likely cracked out.  He fell over their first song, kept tripping on the amp.  His eyes were fucking scary.  All pupil.  I'm pretty sure on normal people you're pupils get tiny in bright lights but his eyes were just eating the light up.  At one point he fell over and crawled to his beer which was beside the drum.  That was class right there.  So pretty much that band can fuck right off, I didn't bother taking any pictures of them.

Alright so then Anberlin.  I've seen them I think 5 times now.  This was the best show I've ever seen them give.  The Commodore is known for having incompetant sound people, so the sound was kind of bullshit.  They blew a speaker and the feedback was horrible but that wasn't the band's fault.  They rocked right out, I stared at their bassist the whole time because he's smokin'.  And their drummer WHO IS BLONDE NOW hahaha.  I remember when he was tiny with long brown hair and I'd call him BB Spee because he looked like the teenage version of Spencer Chamberlain.  He also used to hit his drums so fucking hard his drum sticks would break every song.  He's gotten better at that.  Anyways Anberlin was good, that's pretty much all I can say.  Oh, they played a Joy Division song, I can't for the life of me remember which one but I remember thrusting the air a bit thinking about Ian Curtis.  Oh and Dismantle Repair only made me cry a little bit this time.  Ok, picture time.

Alright, so then finally Taking Back Sunday came out.  They were amazing as they usually are.  The set list kind of sucked.  They played a lot of music off their older album and not enough music off Louder Now.  It was alright though because they played mostly the songs I like of their older songs.  They played some songs off New Again too which was sweet because it didn't come out until today and it was sort of our little snipet of what it was going to sound like.  So far so good by the way.  At one point Adam seranaded one girl in the crowd for an entire song.  Anytime she looked away he'd be like "AH AH AH" and gestured for her to make eye contact with him.  Can we talk about his adorable southern accent?  Haha, I'm such a sucker for a southern boy.  They didn't play Twenty-Twenty Surgery and I was a little rotted about that.  They played MakeDamnSure though.  But they didn't play Miami.  Agh they didn't play lots of things I wanted to hear but they made up for it with a good show.

Oh at one point there was a fucking fight in the crowd right behind us.  In one of the videos I took all you can see is security because some dumb ass thought a concert was a good place to start a fight.  Oh and some drunk girl who had no fucking idea where she was almost poured her drink down my back.  I resolved that if she did I would start the next fight in the crowd.  I saw my friend's cousin who we hate and she pushed some guy's girlfriend and he went on about how he was going to kick her ass in Italian.  I laughed.  She tried to stand with me I guess because she knows me and thought we were friend or something and Anton was getting up in her business.  Obviously he wanted a piece lmao.  It was a really angry night actually, the crowd wasn't so friendly but we held it down. Anyways enough about idiots, more pictures.

So then after the concert Anton and Ashley and I go to McDonald's because we were fucking thirsty, and I shit you not, this is a conversation I had with a girl in McDonald's about Adam from TBS.

"He just doesn't have stage presence anymore because he's married, that sucks, hey?"
"i thought they were awesome, and i don't really care if he's married or not"
"I do, he's so hot"
"Yeah, well, you're not going to marry him so what does it matter?"
"I don't want to marry him, I just want to bang him."
"Well maybe he's unfaithful."
"No, I'm not into that."

Haha honest to shit, this girl actually thought that she was going to hook up with Adam but then he went and betrayed her by getting married.  Then she wouldn't even consider that he might fuck around.  Also, apparently when someone gets married they lose stage presence?  I'm watching you Wil.  Fuck, some people are retarded.

Anyways that's pretty much the very long winded jist of the night.  It was marvelous.

Also, I'm slowly uploading videos on my youtube today.  Here's the link to my account if you want to watch them I would check in tomorrow and they should all be there by then.  You know how long youtube takes to do that bullshit.

EDIT: videos are up on my youtube.  Click below.
