I was asked on tumblr for a list of the
Sun & Moon crafting stations that work in Castaway Stories. General disclaimer that I have tested most but not all the sets (a few I didn't download if I felt they wouldn't fit a tropical island) and I haven't tested them extensively, especially considering several parts of these sets require time to grow/develop and things are very interconnected, so I can't guarantee that everything works perfectly. Plus it's been over 6 months since I actually tested everything, and my memory is faulty...
Just to reiterate one more time that when I say items "don't work," what I mean is they don't work in this finicky spin-off game. This is not a bug report as I'm sure the Sun & Moon objects work fine in the full game for which they are intended.
Does this picture have anything to do with the post? Nope! On with the list!
Stuff that works for me:
- An Apple a Day (Fruit Crops)
- Au Natural Pet Food: The animals spawn but I was mass-testing on a lot without hyenas, so I don't know if they'll hunt them as intended. At the very least you can have little critters on your lots.
- Barnyard Bash: My island only has pigs and goats, so I can't guarantee the other sets work, but I imagine they would.
- Basket Weaving: There are no animations for the crafting station. When you can direct your Sim to craft an item it will instantly appear.
- To Boldly Grow (Vegetable Crops)
- Buzzin' About
- Clay Resource
- Fetch Water
- The Game's Afoot
- Get Salty
- The Giving Tree: Seasonal harvestables did not appear, perhaps because there aren't seasons in this game, but gathering branches and saplings do. Felling trees doesn't work either.
- Gone Fishing: I couldn't get any options to appear on the fillet knife, however.
- Herbs & Spice
- Incandescant Candles: Pretty sure this was the most recently added set before I took a break so I don't think I finished testing it but it looks like all the parts show up and the candles work but I don't remember if the actual crafting of a candle works.
- It's a Trap!
- Making Hay: Remember that there is no move_objects cheat in this game so you can't move the fields once placed and can only delete with the stuck objects remover.
- Mining: Just the rabbit hole is mineable, probably due to not needing animations.
- Wild Berry Bushes
Stuff that does not work* for me:
*Most times the objects will appear in game but functions will either fall out of queue or cause a jump bug. So you can still use items decoratively if you like, but functionally they don't work as advertised.
Anything not on this list is something that I did not test out. If I add any more (which I probably will at some point) I'll update this list.
If you've played this game, you know that the catalogues are different, so finding your installed custom content can be a challenge. For your sanity, make sure you download the collection folders (available in Build Mode only) so you can find all the pieces. For sets that don't have collection folders, I find most of the stuff ends up in the Mirrors, Nature, and Decorations categories. One day I might write out where all these individual items hide in the catalogue...but today is not that day.
