Am watching Merlin. What does this show have against the color tangerine? In every episode I've seen thus far, the baddie has worn a flowy, tangerine cloak. If you're a girl, it's crushed velvet ( Read more... )

Wait, but wasn't New Doctor Guy really New Hot Indian Doctor Guy?

At any rate, he turns out to be working for that mysterious lady who blows up the Hub (and gets killed off fairly soon).

Also, doesn't Martha work for UNIT now? I think when she showed up on a couple TW episodes last season she was there as a UNIT agent (or whatever they call themselves).

And more end of the world stuff (why they didn't call the Doctor to help I have no idea-Sarah Jane would have been helpful, too, but I doubt she would have left Luke & Co. as the 456 [i.e. the aliens-of-the-week] were targeting children) . . . the serial gets pretty bleak before long.

To entirely spoil the end, Ianto dies when the 456 gas Thames House (Lois survives as she was being held in another building by the mysterious lady-I can't remember what her deal was but she does help Jack & Gwen at the end), Jack ends up defeating said aliens (oh, and have you seen the flashbacks to the 60s when they came before? Jack was there) at the cost of his grandson's life (yup, Jack has a daughter-even though I'm pretty sure it was stated at some point that Time Agents were sterilised. Yay continuity retcon! We also find out fairly early in the serial that Ianto has a sister with kids), and it is implied that Lois would be working for Torchwood in the future (in a personal assistant/tealady sort of way, i.e. taking over for Ianto).

Except Jack uses his nifty wristband comlink thingy to hitch a ride on some sort of spacecraft (TARDIS, perhaps??) because he doesn't think he can stay on Earth any longer (guilt, been there for too long, etc. He's very Doctorish in this scene). Gwen & Rhys drive off into the moonlight (oh, and they're expecting, which led to some cute Gwen/Rhys moments-the reveal happened in a potato truck while they were on the run earlier in the serial).

Soo . . . there may or may not be any more Torchwood (the series as well as the Cardiff branch). Because Jack & Gwen are the only ones left and he's off somewhere in space. And I still have no idea what happened to Mickey after "Journey's End"-I thought for sure he was going to show up with Martha at Torchwood.

Buh... whu? The hell, RTD? Well, then. I know some people who will be very, very upset about the Ianto thing. And I had thought Martha and Mickey were going to work for Torchwood, but I guess RTD cares naught for our expectations. I was just going to ask if he was going to keep doing Torchwood, but I guess not...

Wow. Just, wow. It's a good thing that RTD feels compelled to not upset the children in the Doctor Who audience, or I see this would be the kind of bleak fare we'd get.

Oh, and I saw the bit about Jack having a grandson, and I was like "Kid's gonna be endangered, to make the viewing audience care." I didn't think they'd actually kill him, though.
