...and pictures I will deliver. I've got pics of not only Simmouth but also Theo and Stanley's graduations because I'm really not sure if they will make 15.3: I've got so much to fit into that chapter as it is.
This is Simmouth now
At the bottom is the botanical gardens with the Spa opposite. Anti clockwise from that we have the library and art museum. I packaged up the buildings from Belladonna Cove because I didn't want to build them from scratch. I will probably go in and change them at some point. It may seem strange to us to think of a library being an essential part of a holiday, but as the nineteenth century progressed holidays became not only good for the body, but good for the mind as well. Trips to the library become the norm.
Going back clockwise from the Spa we have the small park, the Grand Hotel (the public areas and three rooms are now finished), a parade of shops, the theatre royale, and two boarding houses, facades only.
Along the front is the grand pier, the beach shops, the bathing beach, a beach front restaurant, the pleasure beach and the start of the promenade.
I have two inns and a dance hall planned for the empty community lots you can see, but I don't feel like building them at the moment.
The parade of shops:
Nothing particularly spectacular, but I needed something to even up this side of the road. You may notice that the buildings on this side of the road are more Georgian in style, whereas the seafront buildings are more rustic. The idea is that this is how the town has developed. The Georgians came to take the waters at the spa and built the beginnings of a thriving town, then as the century progressed and the sea became more important to the holiday, the Victorians started to develop the seafront itself.
Next is the beachfront restaurant
.
I've placed the host podium near the french doors in the hope that at least one couple I take here gets to sit outside, because look at the view. I'm not sure if that plan will work, but I live in hope.
Next is the pleasure beach. The concept of a holiday being taken for fun came in towards the latter part of the century, but I have to have some fun things for my sims to do anyway.
I've been looking for an excuse to download that hot air balloon from Parsimonious and yes that is the pirate ship there too.
I've put in a play area for any kiddies I take here.
In the buildings there are games of Don't Wake the Llama, Myshuno! poker, Majong and a pool table.
Last lot to share with you is the start of the promenade.
Look, deckchairs! Thank you Maylin.
The Victorians believed that taking the sea air was extremely good for your health. That was in part due to the fact that rotting seaweed smells like the gas ozone. Because ozone's chemical symbol is O3 the Victorians thought that it must be better for you than regular oxygen (O2). It's not, it's actually poisonous, but there you go. It was this belief that led to a walk (or promenade) along the seafront becoming an essential part of the holiday.
I've also been working at changing the local and tourists' clothes, so the place does now look like it is full of Victorians:
As you can see, I did go through with it. Eddie and Marielle are now married, and honeymooning in Simmouth.
But, I get ahead of myself. Let's go back to uni and Theo and Stanley's graduations.
I don't think anyone is too surprised that this is the first thing SimNerd did when she arrived:
"Kissies nao?"
To be fair, they weren't the only couple getting romantic:
"You know Mr Legacy I was thinking that we could perhaps start thinking about having a brother or sister for Ernie."
"I whole-heartedly agree Mrs Legacy."
Yes Enid and Alexandra are wearing the same dress. It's the only one that I have that really suits Alexandra, but it is driving me nuts.
I would like to blame ACR for this, but Frederick ad Enid were just as bad before ACR and Theo and Nerd are neutered. It's all the outgoing points.
Yup all the outgoing points.
There were other pursuits available.
They didn't last long.
Yeah some people got bored and made themselves right at home.
I forgot to include a picture of what Eddie grew up in so here you go:
Not too shabby all told.
This is what Theo grew up in:
I don't think he could have grown up in a better outfit if he tried. This suits him so much, it's a shame he can't stay in it.
Whilst Theo was getting into the taxi to go home, this is what Stanley was doing:
"So Laura, fancy coming over to see me? It is a while since we last socialised."
You've gotta love Stanley, you really do.
Once they had finishedsocialising (sorry I love the fact that when a sim makes a booty call the interaction is called socialise) I threw his party.
See this is Stanley all over. His guests are now arriving and he is making out with Laura whilst thinking about the woo-hoo they have just had.
Robert and Cecilia are nearly as bad as Enid and Frederick.
But not as bad as their son.
Of course Theo and Eddie were there too:
"Can you beleive we will soon both be married?"
"Nope, and I do not think that Di can either."
So true, I still think of them as teenagers in many ways even though they have been at uni for three months.
"So I am guessing that the brunette in the pink dress Stanley has not introduced to me is one of the ladies he calls when he wants to get laid?"
"ROSEMARY!"
"What? I am an adult you know."
"Yes but..."
Hehe I love Rosemary too, in fact I love all my sims.
So this what Stanley grew up in:
Yeah...not as good as Theo or Eddie, but at least he is wearing trousers and not shorts.
So as I said above, I didn't chicken out; I married Eddie and Marielle today. I've not felt so bad about a wedding before, but I am really exicted about writing this storyline. It's a strange and conflicting feeling. I thought I'd share a few pictures with you.
It's time for guess how Eddie fed Marielle the cake.
Eddie is neat, serious and nice.
Yeah I know you all probably wanted to see him shove it right in her face, but he fed it to her nicely. Typically Marielle has to do the glitchy possessed eye thing though.
When he does things like this, I feel awful. Oh well. I will make him happy eventually I promise.
I did play another wedding today too. This one made me much happier:
All the simselves were there to see Nummy Theo marry his Nerd.
Some seemed happier than others. Annie didn't clap. At all. And I checked by making her selectable that she was watching the wedding and not just standing there. It would make sense to me if this was the Annie that took part in the BC, but that was a clone in another neighbourhood.
At least she made it to the ceremony though:
"Circe, I feel like we are missing something."
"Don't be silly. It's your move."
So do you think that Theo is a cake shover or not?
He is below averagely neat, playful and below averagely nice.
Yes he's a shover, but Nerd doesn't look like she minds.
I'm thinking of sending them to Simmouth...
Last thought of the post. I'm not sure about whether to do a recap chapter for chapter 16 or not. I'm thinking I'm nearly halfway through and quite a bit has happened. You all read my legacy, what are your thoughts? Do you think you would benefit from a recap chapter or not?
