I delivered to the Walmart DC in Henderson, North Carolina, and dispite me saying I'd be ready for a load immediately after delivery, I was assigned a load to pick up tomorrow in Richmond, Virginia. Because of this, I had to find a place to park for the night.
As we all know, or will find out in the course of our driving career (for those just starting), or for those of us not driving trucks for a living, once it gets past a certain time of day, usually sometime in the evening, truckstop parking becomes scarce, something I was really worried about happening when I finally got out of Walmart at 1900.
Well, the truckstop book says there's a truckstop in Henderson, at exit 220, an Exxon, with an XL lot. So I go there. It's packed as per usual, but there are still some open spots. After failing to get into a spot between two trucks, I saw some dirt spaces, deciding to park there. I hohum backing in, then suddenly stop moving. I didn't hit anything, because there's nothing behind me to hit, so I realize I got stuck.
I managed to get unstuck, though, after digging out the mud with a plank and back up til I was out of said hole. Now, in the morning, I'm going to engage my differential lock (something akin to engaging four wheel drive), and floor it out as fast as I can, hopefully avoiding getting stuck again.
I tried to take pictures of the hole I thought I got stuck in, but they didn't turn out. Then, I saw the real culprit of me being stuck and took a picture of that:
Being stuck is very embarassing.
