Yesterday, I heard about a school shooting at a private school. This marks about 322 school shootings this year. It broke my heart to hear that a teacher and two teenaged students were killed, including the perpetrator. It surprised me to know that the perpetrator was a young girl. It is not often that girls commit these things. To think that these three individuals were alive at the time of my previous entry is just mind-blowing. How quickly things can change. But what upsets me is how negative change is sudden, while positive change (for me, at least) is slow and steady.
Another thing that got me sad was watching a video from the TV series Full House. It is one from their early years where Uncle Jesse is considering moving out of the Tanner household but he just can't get over how much he will miss Michelle, his youngest niece. The video then plays a montage of Jesse playing with Michelle at various ages up to that time while "Baby Love" by the Supremes plays in the background. I must admit, it reminded me somewhat of myself playing with my nieces.
I found yesterday to just be a sad day all-around. I did not even have any dinner last night. I tend to dislike Mondays and it sounds trite, but I have my reasons. I hope today is better.
Today is my younger niece's half-birthday. She is now one-and-a-half years old.
