I had a relatively short session at Center S. yesterday. It went well. I did speak to an administrator there briefly to be debriefed and felt the situation has been resolved. All's well that ends well.
After coming home from tutoring, I saw my nieces busily playing. And both began playing with me in their own little ways. My one-year-old niece likes it when I pick her up and "fly her around" the room. She especially loves it when I bring her close and suddenly pull her far away from a parent. As for my three-year-old niece, where do I start? We played with a finger-tracing maze book. We played with a purple stretchy toy, which she called "the monster" and we even played with Elmo a little bit. There was lots of laughter.
One of the highlights of the evening was when I tried to get her to spell "start" because it was a recurring word in the maze book. I would say "S-T-A-R-T" and she would say "S-T-R-A-T." I didn't correct her because I figured that I had given her too many letters to keep track of. The learning exercise didn't last long because I figured it was a flawed one, in terms of pedagogical value.
Unfortunately, I did not get much studying done. Most of it was done before my tutoring session. This year is coming to an end, but I am hardly noticing anything. I have made no goals and no clear plan. Just a vague intention to complete my financial exams.
