The Second Week Begins

Sep 06, 2004 16:05

1. I spent all last week shopping for classes, and I think I've finally decided what I want my course schedule to be. And I'm actually excited, which is refreshing since for a while I was extremely frustrated with the shopping period.

MWF 10:30 - 11:20: Beginning Tennis
W 1:15 - 4:00: Costume Design
TTH 9:55 - 11:10: Comparative Politics
TTH 11:20 - 12:35: La Decima Musa
TTH 2:40 - 3:55: Nonviolent Social Movements
TH 1:15 - 2:30: French Conversation

I've heard that the Nonviolent Social Movements professor isn't that great, but I just dropped by his office to ask to join the class and he seems really nice, which is always a start. Plus the rumor that he's one of the hottest professors at Swat is definitely true. ;) Whether or not he's a great teacher the material still sounds fascinating, and it's got to be better than the French class I was originally going to take. *shudder* It was just like high school French, only worse, because I had no one to commiserate with.

2. We have ghouls in the ceiling. Which I guess is better than possums. Simone and I keep hearing sounds of furniture being pushed around above our room, but when she went upstairs to see what was going on no one was doing a thing. It's very mysterious, and I'm kind of fond of our ghouls, actually. This dorm has turned out to be very cool -- we have a creepy basement where the walls are covered in scrawled messages and strange murals and lone chairs sit in the corners of rooms, and on our floor there's a door that opens onto a stairway that goes nowhere. I love it. :)

3. The boy! Is good. I am bemused but happy. This is a very eventful time of year in that almost everyone I know here seems to be either starting a new relationship or ending an old one, and it's impossible to keep track of all the gossip. But try I will, nonetheless.
