Specialized Words Are Hot

On my e-clinic profile under "hobbies", I wrote

Figuring out the names of medical instruments. Forming latin plurals. Worshipping people who can form latin plurals and who know the names of their medical instruments.

Somebody asked why I listed these things. I was tempted to say I was just feeling the pull of asshattery when I first wrote it. However, in the land of the navel-gazers, nothing is "just a joke".

I suppose one reason for wanting play partners that know their words is because I like languages; I like the sounds of them and their amazingly apt ways of describing things that take whole paragraphs to explain in other tongues. I also like precision. Being able to say exactly what you mean is sexy. So Latin is not only a foreign language but it's unusually compact. It also sounds pleasant, even musical. And for eons it's been a language of the cognoscenti. Those who wield it have long been either intelligent or educated or both. This is probably why I invented an alter-ego that speaks Mandarin, a language which has all the characteristics I just talked about, plus (like Latin) the fabulous abilities to both rhyme and make plays on words.

The other reason why specialized words make me dewy is I'm a nerd. Large frontal lobes are incendiary as are the signs that point to such. So a playdoc who knows his Latin and tools is well on the way to being a good top for me. He's probably well-educated. He can say what he means in just a few words. He (or she, but tops are rare and female tops are as hard to find as iridum) might have the ability to use words as a kind of foreplay, because let's face it -- when you're chatting online, exchanging hot words are about the only kind of foreplay there is.

Finding those qualities in a playdoc not only gets me hot by itself, but it also cuts down on my worry that I might get jerked out of a good role play when he comes out with "the thingamahoodle I use to listen to your heart".
