I never really read much of Gor, and the people who are into it are very rare in my surrounding (for a reason). I don't deal well with Maledom stuff because it IMVHO a) usually comes with some biological shit, b) often covers machismo-asshole behavior under the disguise of bdsm, c) makes men think that any dominant woman just didn't meet the right guy yet *bleh*

We've had a lecture a while ago about Gor and the Gor scene, from a Domme who was into it (obviously there are subgroups with dominant women *G*). From what I understood, Norman just has a big problem with women and didn't develop one bit from the first to the last book. So putting women down is just his method of dealing with machismo problems or some inferiority complex or whatever. I don't care about him but I hate to see how many people take some fantasy stuff and want to live it.

(I love the "Beauty Trilogy" by Ann Rice, because a) men and women (ab)use men and women and b) it's really obvious fantasy and I've yet to meet anyone who wants to live it ;)

This said, of course I have a problem with "women are naturally submissive" just as men aren't naturally dominant for me, even though the world might look different and I just may be in deep denial :) But it's a good place to be *G*

I understand about some doms being assholes. But I do think BDSM can also give some guys a healthy way to get out their aggressive urges. I also know a bunch of "service tops". Even though they enjoy creating sensation, they also want to make sure their sub has a great time and comes back.

I can see why, as a female top who likes male subs, you might not get along with the male tops who prefer female ones.. Everyone would be trying to be the über-über top and nobody would get along :)

I actually thought the "Beauty" trilogy was lush, like all of Anne Rice's other writing, but very, very repetitive.

I know many nice male doms, and of course there are many service tops. But I strongly dislike explaining roles with biology (which the good guys don't do anyway) and GOR is like the universal "naturally it's got to be that way" excuse for every Dumm-Dom, as we call them here ;).

Repetitive? I read once through it and after that only a best-of. Like, STABLES with MALE PONIES.

And did I mention PONIES?! *giggles*
