Summary: Janet's turn for mental anguish.

They were perfect.

Twenty-eight little rounds of perfection. Chocolate injected with bourbon. They came in a black box with white lettering. Absolute perfection.

Janet picked up a box and went to the register with a grin.

The cashier eyed her, scanned the box, and held out a hand.

"What?"

"ID."

"ID?"

"Yes. As in, proof of how old you are."

"Please," Janet said. "I’m almost thirty, and I look it. And anyway, it’s just chocolate."

"Whatever. ID."

She sighed and pulled her driver’s license out, showing it to the woman, but not giving it to her. The cashier hit a button on the register and practically threw the box at her.

Janet high-tailed it out of the store and hopped into her car. Whether she liked the woman or not, she had the chocolates. She pulled into the driveway after a few minutes and noted with some chagrin that Victor was home early.

Easy fix for that.

She made it to the door. He was coming down the stairs.

"Go away! Don’t look!" she yelled.

"What?"

"Go away!"

He gave her a startled look and wondered what he’d done wrong this time, but left her at the door, nonetheless.

She avoided him for the rest of the day and hid in her office when he went to bed, sneaking down just in time to watch him find the box on his pillow.
