Summary: They never cover the important stuff in training.

It’s odd meeting someone you know in a place you don’t expect them to be.

Like the Machine Man in a government facility, and staying there willingly. Or Northstar, in the same one, snarky as ever and perfectly happy to let innocent(and not-so-innocent) passers-by know what’s on his mind.

Things happen that just aren’t expected.

Northstar threw a shoe at him one day, and he’d had shoes banned from his cell. It wasn’t hard, he found. Just wave a hand and his bidding was done.

Aaron seemed perfectly content to give answers as long as he spent the majority of his time with his stupid damn machines.

So he was a little apprehensive about going to ask him to shut Northstar the hell up, he was calling for him.

"I do not care what Northstar says," Machine Man informed him.

He was tempted to tell Aaron off, but he couldn’t bring himself to. Fists of steel versus a plain old human skull, and all that.

"He’s asking for you, Mr. Stack."

"I do not care what Northstar says."

He paused for a moment, searching his brain and anything he could find for the answer to this dilemma.

"Do you care what he screams?"

This, apparently, worked. Stack stopped, turned, looked at him, and glared.

"And what is it that Northstar is screaming?"

"He’s not, yet, but he will be if you don’t come."

Okay. A little white lie. Northstar hadn’t even made a threat. He’d just told him to bring Stack, and looked at him with indiscernable eyes and when he’d left, Northstar was still standing by the glass.

Like a silent threat to start screaming, right?

Stack sighed and left his latest bit of whatever.

"I require the keys to enter his cell legally."

"I’ll get it for you."

He followed Stack out and punched in the access code for Northstar’s cell, not bothering with the key, and not bothering to wonder why Stack wanted in.

"I’ll be around the corner if you need me," he said, stepping away.

Stack and Northstar both nodded and he backed out of the solitary confinement room, making the appropriate precautions on Northstar’s restraints.

Everything seemed fine for exactly one minute. Then he heard the thump, and, regretting he’d ever left those two idiots alone together, he dashed back in to play hero to the heroes.

And dashed back out again, covering his eyes.

There was nothing in SHIELD training about sex, and he was absolutely sure there should be.

Oh, well. Not like they ever got any, anyway. And he was not stupid enough to think he could drag Northstar off of Stack by himself.
