The last girl and the last reason - Robin/Marian/Guy vid

Oct 31, 2009 11:34

FINALLY! This vid popped into my head over a year ago, but I didn't think I could do it justice with shitty WMM - but NOW, thanks to my spanky new Sony Vegas gift from the vidding gods, I FINALLY DID IT! My second Robin Hood vid, but this time focusing on the show's triangle of leads Robin, Marian and Guy (though it is slightly more Robin-POV'd ( Read more... )

Pretties!

I like Robin, and I do love his relationship with Marian (who can resisit the squabbling!) but I have no idea why anyone would not choose GUY! If ever there was a conflicted redeemable hot bad Guy (hah!) that needed to be saved, it'd be him!

SRSLY, who could turn away from this
<------??????

And after finished the vid I went on a total RA icon snagging spree lol. It had been a while since I'd seen him in anything (i JUST started watching RH S3 - reluctantly) and I'm ashamed to admit that I almost kind of forgot how RIDICULOUSLY GOOD LOOKING AND AMAZING HE IS.

*ducks from stuff obvs. being hurled at me*

THANK GOD I've been reminded of my love for this man. Can't wait to finally see his first series of Spooks!

I KNOW!!! *fans self* It's funny you brought up that icon! I was watching that scene last night - I'm not sure how Marian could possibly step away from that, despite Robin glowering from the window!! HOW?!

You're reluctantly watching RH S3? When there's Guy to drool over!? Well, I won't hurl anything as you've recovered your sense. XD

So are you working your way through all the Spooks seasons to get too RA's season 7? You haven't watched it yet? Boy are you in for a treat!

I watched it while it was airing here, and have d/l the earlier seasons but haven't found the time yet. I'm just going to enjoy RA all his James Bond glory! (well, the gritty dirt-under-your-nails Bond kind, not the kitcshy flashy kind)

Re: my almost not watching S3 - after the S2 finale, I decided that I would view it as the SERIES finale. I just couldn't imagine RH w/out Marian. I had also heard rumors of multiple love interests for Robin in the third series, and I was quite put off and put OUT by that. I mean, srsly - she was the love of his life and they're already gonna toss another woman at him? Plus I was peeved at another female being added to the gang - why bother to get rid of Marian/Djaq (who were AMAZING) and then try and replace them with someone so not as awesome??

So just, yeah - i thought i was done w/ the show, but DAMMIT my curiousity got the better of me! - and when BBCA had already started airing S3, I went and watched the first couple of eps. That first scene btw Robin/Guy on the edge of the cliff:

"She should have been mine!"
"SHE WAS MY WIFE!"...that sold me on the new series. While Marian was sorely missed, I liked the darker tone and tuck/Isabella have been nice additions - Kate not so much. Though I was annoyed by Robin's brief affair ( ... )

Hi there!

First of all, I wanted to say that I watched this video on YouTube and loved it. Second, I saw your comment last night on the LJ post on the portrayal of women on RH and was a little saddened by it, and since that post has been taken down I thought I'd comment here. I'm a professional, independent, feminist woman who loves Guy/Marian and is not the least bit ashamed or embarrassed of it, and I don't think anyone else should be either. The LJ poster actually acknowledged that she was focusing on only one, darkest aspect of the Guy/Marian storyline (the "abusive relationship" overtones) and that there is another more positive way to see it. I think you can take any aspect of the story and focus on the negatives and turn it into something ugly -- I mean, you could describe the show's Robin Hood as a man who is so fanatically devoted to his leader (King Richard) that he's willing to torture people, kill an unconscious man or cut out his tongue, and go on a suicide mission to kill a roomful of people with knives in his ( ... )

I'm sorry that my post upset you, and I will admit that my comment re: the Guy/Marain relationship maybe was a bit strong. Maybe if I had taken a step back and re-read the post and really thought out my comment, it maybe wouldn't have been as negative and I'll admit, slightly incoherent. But someone had just laid out a lot of what I had really thought about the show but had not given into examining too closely, so I was a bit excited and everything just kind of came pouring out. I've had my issues with the show (and the character of Robin, but he was not the subjectof the post) - and as it is a tv show, I have normally pushed them to the side b/c it IS entertaining and I DO enjoy it - mostly ( ... )

I realized I overly focused on the aspect of his killing her in my arguement and forgot to mention any examples of the emotional/mental abuse. For instance: burning down her house, throwing a coin at her and telling her to "fetch", forcing her into marrying him and then lying about the circumstances just to get what he wanted, basically his entire view of her in S1, condemning her as the nightwatchman and tossing her around the tower like a rag doll, , in the S2 finale declaring that he would take her as his wife "by force", the constant mood swings whenever she didn't immediately aquiese to his demands - one minute congenial, the next he's barking at her, and pretty much placing his own redemption entirely on her shoulders.

Plus, he always spoke to her like she was a simpleton - his "dainty little woman" view of her was a turn off. So yeah, I know there are others, but it's been a while since i watched the past 2 series so I can't immediately recall anymore.

Thanks for replying! I have a lot of thoughts but right now I really need to be working (partly because I've spent the last few days totally absorbed in working on a Guy/Marian fanfic I'm co-writing and now I have deadlines breathing down my neck). Talk to you soon though!

Oh, and just wanted to add -- I really hope you don't stop doing Guy, Guy/Marian, or Guy/Marian/Robin stuff! :) More videos please!

Oh I most def will vid for G/M, mainly b/c I DO believe they have a great chemistry that clearly translates on screen, and b/c I think Richard Armitage is AMAZING. Even though his character may have been less than sympathetic, he still managed to make me care about Guy - HE IS THAT GOOD.
