Verhoeven or Heinlein?hiddentracksApril 11 2006, 20:58:14 UTC
It depends on which body of fans you're referencing? Heinlein fans of the orginal book - and the movie is credited as "based on the book", mostly hated it.... except as a portrayal of the settings, creatures, etc.... Movie fans? I don't know much about how they perceived it. Personally, I was so put off by the whole Denise Richards "never a strand of hair out of place" character and the overt macho themes that I'm probably not a good person to ask. But hey, I'm a Merchant/Ivory fan. Oh, and just yesterday I saw a movie that I can't believe I missed until now: "Days of Heaven", dir. by Terence Malick, 1978. Such fantastic images..... 2 thumbs up!
