I hope everyone’s Thanksgiving was good.
Mine was a minor madhouse. I didn’t even know I was going to be able to have a decent Thanksgiving until 4-5 days before. My work was in an “Outage” where we shut 1 side down and scramble all over it refurb’ing, refueling, repairing, etc. and we were humping tail trying to get it back up in time. Due to a few issues, we weren’t sure it would be done until suddenly it was.
Meanwhile, back at home, my brother had flown in from Sweden to Oklahoma, then drove with my dad and a trailer down here to St Lucie. My brother had been here for Christmas, New Years, 4 th of July, and a couple others, but had never been here for Thanksgiving until now.
On all of that, just as they were getting here, I worked my last day shift of the outage, and had to go on Nights from Sunday night until Thanksgiving morning…
He didn’t listen, either, when I told him “I don’t go out on “Black Friday” unless I have to.” He just “had” to go to the mall on that day. Biiiiiig mistake. It took us 30 minutes to get into the mall, but it took almost an hour to get out of the mall, and this one isn’t even that big or special. He’ll never want to go out like that again, I’m sure.
After all that, when it was time for him to fly home, he was supposed to fly American from Orlando to Chicago, leaving around 11:30 and getting there plenty of time before his flight on SAS to Stockholm… and yes, I did say “supposed to”. His flight got delayed until 2:35 so he missed his connecting flight. American is the one who kept delaying, not the other airlines, for the most part. They also promised they’d help the passengers make their connecting flights or help with the arrangements… They lied. SAS were the ones who got him booked on another flight out of Chicago, arriving in Stockholm about 4 hrs later than he would have.
My advice to anyone: DO NOT USE AMERICAN AIRLINES! They suck big green donkey di… errrr… never mind.
Now, what I’m looking forward to: My middle son D is going to be flying in from Amarillo on the 20th, to spend the holidays with us for the first time in over 6 years…
And as for his older brother, well, his grades still suck major ass. I wish I weren’t being truthful here, but 2 B’s and the rest F’s are major suckage… no lie.
