Have to say, baby slings are AWESOME.
We already knew the Moby wrap was Ezri's favorite thing -- it puts her to sleep and is a great way to carry her around hands free for Church, shopping, etc. Brian loves it. The only problem is that since it takes a while to put on and set up, it's not that ideal for me around the house, as I need something easy to take on and off for nursing access.
Thankfully, I also have a cheaper, less awesome sling that only fits me. It's as simple as it gets, but it does the job and I can stick Ezri in (and out) real quick and actually have my hands free to eat or cook! I made dinner tonight -- Arroz con Ganulez y Pollo -- which included chopping of lots of ingredients and sauteing, all with Ezri safely happy and awake being worn by me.
Judy (my MIL) returned back to MN yesterday, so now it's just Brian and me again. Brian has another 3 weeks of paternity leave, so I still get some help (yay). Regardless, I'm so, so, so glad that I can do some cooking with Ezri awake in her sling. Sometimes I can get stuff done when she's in her swing or asleep, but that's far less predictable.
I, and Brian, are going to experiment with recipes from "Parents Need to Eat Too: Nap-Friendly Recipes, One-Handed Meals..." by Debbie Koenig. So far, I'm really intrigued by her techniques to break down a recipe into short time increments (ie prep for 10 minutes, stick in fridge... hours later, more prep, repeat, etc.). We'll see how it goes! Thankfully, most of her recipes are dairy and soy free, and very healthy. Here's hoping they work (and taste) swell.
In other happy news, taxes are filed. Our refund was rather insanely awesome. Yay!
