Ramblings & Kittens!
Nothing like watching anime to realize how wide the cultural gap really is! Although this can be true of most foreign films, as well.
It's really fun having my month of vacation and being able to marathon series. It's my favorite way to experience anime, all in one or two crazy sittings.
The kittens are learning to watch TV via a laptop and not touch the screen or keyboard. They're becoming really well behaved with this. They even leap over the laptop when running and chasing each other, instead of dashing on top of the keys. It's funny how some of them like to passively sit and watch.
On a somewhat sad note, the kittens leave us to return to the shelter to be fixed tomorrow. We may get them back for a short amount of time due to overcrowding, but ideally they'll be put for adoption and we won't see them again. I get to fill out in-depth personality profiles on each to aid in their future adoption.
I'll miss them, but they were getting pretty huge (almost 11 weeks old now). It's becoming close to impossible to keep them in the spare room. This morning 4 out of the 5 escaped in the blink of an eye. Stripers ran down the stairs, along with Sean and Tiny who only managed to reach the landing. Blackie remained upstairs wandering about. I managed to lure Sean, Tiny and Blackie back with food, but Stripers had already hidden himself downstairs. I then spent a good 15 minutes running around chasing a very playful kitten. Stripers is so fast! He thinks the chase is a game and is very good at hiding and darting out at the very last minute. Shima, our adult dominant cat, was extremely displeased and hissed at him.
If cats could talk, I would say the encounter went like this based on the body language:
Shima: * hiss * Get the hell out of my territory, you weird thing!
Stripers: Hi! Why are you making that weird sound?
Shima: * HISS * I mean it! Go away!
Stripers: That really is a funny sound. I'll just sit here and listen to it, puzzled.
Shima: That's it. I'm out of here. This creepy creature isn't worth it. * RUN AWAY *
