a dark and stormy start to the week

this week i was a good girl and went to work :o)

actually been feeling a lot better this week - i've still been tired, but not bone-tired-and-slightly-wobbly as i was before. i started taking vitamins when i was off work - great big horse-pill vitamins with iron, folic acid, etc, and i do feel better, but that may be the vitamins, the rest, or a bit of both. i'm not pushing myself too much - still having a lie down most days, but might be getting there. still waiting to enter my "glowing" phase tho (sweaty, yes, glowing, not quite).

we saw the midwife on thursday, and heard baby's heartbeat, which was lovely (155 bpm, average is between 140 and 180, apparently, so we're spot on), my blood pressure was 120/75, so all good there. not too impressed to find i'm rhesus negative - more needles. woohoo. but i know it will all be worth it in the end.

in other news, last sunday was interesting, after being woken by the nice policeman who pointed out that our car was a slightly different shape to how we'd left it the night before, and was now wearing most of a tree. poor winston. hopefully it's all sorted now, although we are going to have to pursue the council for the insurance - the tree actually snapped, which would imply it was rotten (we have kept a sample of the wood from inside the trunk, which is very spongy). i think it's quite telling that the council sent people within an hour to dispose of the evidence. not sure how much luck we'll have with that claim, but luckily we have a protected no-claims bonus, so we won't lose that. still have a courtesy car, but winston will probably be back on tuesday. i'm glad, i've missed him.

we did make it to ikea in the end, and we got boxes, which just happened to be perfect, and were on sale :o) popped into next as well, as was looking for maternity trousers, but they only had jeans. also visited bhs and mamas & papas, but managed to restrain ourselves. we were kind of halfheartedly looking for chairs, because our sofas are a bit soft, and getting up out of them whilst holding a baby is not going to be easy. but today we solved that problem by "borrowing" steve's mum and dad's rather lovely rocking chair, which is going to be perfect :o)

have had a busy few days - work, plus clients, and then yesterday i was on an all day course for cruse - it's to learn how to facilitate groups, rather than work 1-to-1 with people, and there are three more days to do, plus the portfolio work (not that that's a problem - i can do that in non-busy times at work). today have been over to see steve's parents and grandparents, but have tomorrow off - yay! going to go to asda, as i'm still on a mission for maternity trousers - i have been amazed at the number of places which just don't do maternity clothes (m&s, BHS, debenhams, tesco). next had some, but no work trousers (finally found a pair of navy linen ones in the little next near mum and dad, but both big branches we went to only had jeans). H&M had some stuff, but none of the trousers fitted. i got a dress there tho. going to try asda tomorrow, and matalan if i have no luck there. don't really want to buy online if i can help it, as i want to make sure whatever i buy is comfy and fits well. maybe will start my own maternity-wear business :o)

no more books completed yet - reading an anthology which seems to have no discernible theme and has some very odd stories - but the co-editors are neil gaiman and al sarrantonio, which probably explains that to a certain extent.
