weekend! had three days off work last week, and i do feel a bit more rested now, which is good.
from a medical point of view, i've been to to docs every day for the last three days (apt with doc, blood test, another apt with doc) and have yet another on monday, as well as a midwife appointment this coming thursday. my results all came back clear (no infection, no anaemia), which doesn't give a reason for the blood in my urine. i have to go back on monday for an exam (possibly tmi, but just to check that the blood isn't coming from anywhere else - which i'm almost certain it isn't, because i've been very paranoid and checking for bleeding lots after my miscarriage last time), and then i'll be referred to urology at the hospital so they can have a go. i'll ask the doc on monday exactly what it is he/she is suspecting, which also might give me a better idea.
i've looked it up, and the main option is a kidney stone, which is a decidedly better option than the various cancers that are the other option (although very, very unlikely in my age group). of course the other option is "meh, we don't really know", which seems to be very popular also.
have been trying not to just sit on my backside, tho, and have made sure i go out each day to keep active. we went to the shops on wednesday, and on friday went to the garden centre with mum, who was looking for a water butt, and steve wanted some strawberry plants. i also got another bottle of vinegar from their beautiful food shop - they have lots of flavoured oils and balsamics which are just delicious - we got a tomato one last time, and have had several meals of just bread and a little pot of dipping vinegar since. this time i got a fig-flavoured one. they're pricey, but if you take the bottles back you get a refill for half the price, which is what we're intending to do. that way we can try out all the different flavours too! i've got my eye on the raspberry one next...
today we've been to the fairtrade cafe at church, which is a semi-regular event organised by our friends (even though one of them is running the manchester marathon tomorrow!). because they were organising it we got to play with their baby for an hour or so, which was lovely - he's nearly a year old, and the happiest little fella you could hope to meet. today he was mostly enjoying chewing his plastic spoon, but we had a good chatter too. i do love baby time, and i love vicky for lending harry to me periodically!
tomorrow might be a rest day, but might also be an ikea day, depending how i feel tomorrow. i have an idea for constructing a baby-changing unit, using a chest of drawers we already have, but it incorporates little cubbies for plastic boxes, so we need to source and measure up some boxes so we can work out dimensions. i also have my eye on a set of little bowls, which i think are really for soy sauce, but would also be perfect for the above-mentioned vinegars (possibly more suitable than steve's giant novelty sea-creature egg cups we're using at present!).
have read a little bit more this week, and have finished:
The Book Thief - Marcus Zusak
The Long Song - Andrea Levy
haven't decided what will be next - i might revisit something next, rather than tackling something else off the pile. i shall have a bookshelf-wander later, and see what speaks to me. metaphorically, of course ;o)
