Brick walls are not to be spoken to

My mother is a brick wall. Tall and impenetrable by logic and fact. It never fucking fails. No matter how often I tell her if she wants to have a good time with me not to bring up politics, she does it anyway. With most people I do not mind talking about politics, but my mom is such a fucking moron about what is actually going on in the world it ( Read more... )

Well you know, the more you argue, the more she's gonna defend herself. It's like a crusade, she needs an opposing party so she doesn't have to think about what the Republicans really are and stand for.

You know, what would be kinda fun is to act like you've finally seen the light and converted. She'd be more likely to listen to you then.

-Mom, are you better off now or under a Democrat?
-Mom, do you think you are safer now, or under a Democrat?
-Mom, do you think the country is better now, or under a Democrat?
-Mom, do you like where the country is going?
-Mom, who's in charge?

That's how I'd do it.

I did that actually, and she still thinks she is better off now than under Clinton. Even though the country is in shambles the infrastructure is crumbling, stocks are down, gas is up and (our own) people are dieing in a foreign country every day for obscured corporate reasons.
