Do any of you know what the director of FEMA, Michael D. Brown, did for 11 years before he became director of FEMA? He is very qualified for this position. He was the director of the International Arabian Horse Association. Now this is the guy I want to lead the charge to save my community the next time the Louisville area gets hit by a whopping tornado, or floodwaters up to our necks. A guy who knows the ins and outs of Arabian Horses is most surely qualified to be the head of FEMA. He was forced to resign from the IAHA on criticisms that he the group was getting too many lawsuits from employees he fired on accusations that they were cheating in horse shows. Now this is the kind of tough attitude we need in a FEMA director.
Apparently he got into working for FEMA because after he left the IAHA, his old college roommate, who happened to be Joe Albaugh, who had run Bush's 2000 campaign for president. Thank God for Republicans! Joe Albaugh's term as FEMA director involved reducing the size of FEMA and placing more responsibility on local communities to solve their own problems when they are in trouble.
Now... way back in the Clinton days... we wasted all this money on expanding FEMA and increasing it's role in disaster mitigation. Leave it to those big government liberals to do something like that, when everyone knows that the Free Market will solve all of humanity's woes. Why, the best thing to do after a catastrophe would be for several disaster mitigation firms to offer their services on the open market, and then of course market forces of supply and demand will result in refugees and victims getting the best possible price for disaster mitigation services. And best of all, the rest of us who didn't get hit with a disaster won't have to pay for it! FEMA is just another form of welfare, after all. It's every man for himself! Why, if people really give a shit about other human beings, aren't there like, charities that can handle this stuff? Why should I be forced to pay? That just isn't right.
That's why I thank Jeebus and God Almighty for electing Bush president! They will save us from these liberal communists who want things like free meals for poor disaster victims, and levees to keep category 4 and 5 hurricanes from inundating the city of New Orleans.
