1. Chose a vid, or two, or three, or however many you wish, that you started once upon a time but never did finish. Whether it was because the muse or inspiration left you, or someone else did the song, or you never found the time, or just ended up not liking it---no matter the reason! Show them to us! Through download or stream, it doesn't matter.
2. Tell us that reason you abandoned it. Why did it get shelved, or tossed into the rubbish bin? Why didn't you finish it? Did you ever plan to go back to it? Tell us about it!

Oh my, I have SO MANY unfinished vids, it's not even funny. Most of them I've kept just the project, but some I actually kept the early rendered versions just in case I feel like going back to them. Not that I ever have. Still, it's kind of nice to believe that, maybe, one day, I actually will, because some of these are, quite frankly, pretty good ideas!
I'll list them on the order of oldest to newest.
And I'm going right ahead and sharing most of the unfinished project I have. Because I can. MWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!
ROBIN HOOD - "REVOLUTION"
Theme: Gen, Robin character study
Aw, I really wanted to finish this one... It was supposed to be my contribution to the Robin Hood vidding world back when I couldn't stop fangirling about it. It was just a general vid, focusing on Robin, but at the same time showing every major character on the show.
This is actually a very old project. I made it when the first couple of episodes from series 2 had aired. I don't know what made me stop it, I guess I just thought it wasn't any good... or maybe it was, but I could do better, I don't know.
Sadly, though, because of what happened at the end of series 2 and because I still can't bring myself to watch series 3 (I think I eventually will... at some point), it's very unlikely that this vid will ever get finished.

PUSHING DAISIES - "FAKE PALINDROMES"
Theme: Gen
Yet another incredibly old work in progress. I really, really loved this project and I still can't understand why I just quit it. Because the song fit, and it was a fun vid to be working on at the time, so I really can't understand. I just loved the idea of playing along with the quirks and the weirdness of the show. And I really wanted to make a PD vid that was NOT focused on Ned/Chuck. I do love them, but I also wanted to show my love for the show in general.
OH! And it had an Andrew Bird song. How could I have left it?
However, again, I don't think I'll be finishing this one any time soon. Here's a secret: I actually haven't watched the last 3 episodes yet. I don't know why! I love PD with all my heart, but I just can't watch those episodes. Maybe I just can't let it go?

GARY OLDMAN - "SYMPATHY FOR THE DEVIL"
Theme: Gary Oldman tribute
Oh, Gary, Gary, Gary... I can't possibly understand why I quit this project because it just seems "right". :) The idea here was to showcase some of Gary's roles to the Rolling Stones song because, honestly, it just fits him and his tendency to portray nasty, evil villains and still have the audience love him! And I think it was going really well!
I may actually go back to it... eventually... because I have always wanted to make a Gary Oldman tribute vid. And, again, this song is just "right".

DOCTOR WHO - "RUNNING UP THAT HILL"
Theme: Nine & Ten, Doctor character study
This project... THIS PROJECT! GUH! It's driving me insane to this day. I started it before series 4 had even aired and it still makes no sense to me why I can't carry on with it. Before "When I Ruled The World", THIS was my Nine/Ten project and I really, really, reeeeeally wanted to finish it. I still do, actually.
The whole idea behind it was to show the changes the Doctor went through in his regenerations and the fear he has of what's to come. So I had Nine set up as the Doctor's past, Ten set up as his present, and then a whole bit at the end with the Master being what Ten feared he would turn into.
It's actually kind of scary how this theme still fits... Actually, it fits even more now that we know Ten is actually leaving and after "Waters of Mars" where he went batshit crazy and very Master-like right in front of us.
I think I may go back to this vid after the last special... I mean, I REALLY want to!

You might notice that many of the little Nine/Ten comparisson moments here ended up on the "When I Ruled the World" vid. Like the beginning with Nine and Ten doing pretty much the exact same movements inside the TARDIS, then Nine and Ten walking on the same street and wearing the same clothes, and that last bit with Nine saving the people and Ten killing the cybermen. :)
TORCHWOOD - "GOT A SUITCASE, GOT REGRETS"
Theme: Ianto Jones
Ok, so Ianto + Tom McRae? WHY did I not finish this vid? Seriously, this whole list just shows two things:
1) I seriously vid all over the place.
2) I know way too little about my own vidding, because I can never tell why I can't carry on with a vid. Maybe that's the very reason WHY I can't carry on with them!
Anyway, back to this particular vid, this was supposed to be my big Ianto tribute. I really wanted to make a vid about just him and not him and Jack, and this song fit kinda perfectly with what I had in mind, of Ianto going sort of "F%$K YOU!!!" to the Torchwood team (and Jack) because of the way they treat him and how he never seemed as good as the others. It was not supposed to be him being angry, though, more sad and depressed. I had the whole ending playing out in my head, with Ianto wanting to die because he just wasn't good enough ("deal the cards and hope that I can play a better hand this time").
I might actually go back to it. I think the real reason this one got stuck was because I was getting tired of going through every episode, picking scenes. I think I stopped at around the middle of season 2... So yeah, I was just lazy with this one, really.

HOUSE - "AIN'T NO REASON"
Theme: 3x01 Broken
OH I love this project so much! I absolutely love the song, I ADORE this episode and they just seemed to go so well together. The part I was looking forward to the most was the one about the Superman guy... the lyrics were so perfect for him ("a window and a pigeon with a broken wing / you can spend your whole life working for something / just to have it taken away")! I really want to go back to this vid, I absolutely loved the story in this episode, about House in the clinic, trying to get away and then learning that he really should be there, and learning to care for the others around him.

MERLIN - "TWENTY YEARS"
Theme: Arthur Pendragon
Again, another vid+song match made in heaven for me. This song just screams King Arthur for me and I had so many ideas for it, but the main reason why I couldn't carry on was just because I, somehow, couldn't get the editing to work as well as I wanted it to. I just felt like I was getting the pacing all wrong. I wanted it to be like a build-up of sorts, going more fast-paced as the song progressed, as Arthur got more and more close to fulfilling his destiny of becoming king... But it just wasn't working.
Also, in my head, I named it the "Arthur Vid of Endless Foreshadowing" because I was really looking forward to leaving hints all over the place to the events we know will happen in the future (well, maybe not in the series, but they do in the legend, so it counts as at least sorta-canon), like the sword in the stone, Guinevere betraying him with Lancelot, the round table, Mordred and etc...
I still want to finish it because the song really fits Arthur so well! But I suppose I'll at least wait for the season finale this Saturday.
NOTE: If you're watching it, you should skip to 0:28. Unless, of course, you enjoy watching 28 seconds of absolutely nothing. :P

MERLIN - "SAY WHEN"
Theme: Arthur/Gwen
It's no secret to anyone that I love Arthur/Gwen a great deal. A REALLY great deal. I was just desperate to vid them and, as I usually do in these situations, I turned to ana_br for help and she suggested this song for them. The lyrics fit really well and it's fast-paced, which is always a huge plus with me. However, my main issue here was exactly the song itself. While I loved the lyrics, I just didn't like the chorus bits at all... I don't know, the whole "tonight, tonight, say wheeeeeen" thing just... didn't go well with me, it put me off completely, which is a shame because the rest of the song is perfect!
I'm still searching for a good song for them, or I might eventually overcome my problems with the chorus and finish this very project. Who knows?

FARSCAPE/DOCTOR WHO TRAILER
Theme: umm... a Farscape/Doctor Who trailer, maybe?
Of all the vids here, there is none that I want to finish more than this one. Not only is this a crossover vid (which I kind of love), it merges my two favorite sci-fi shows and, although you can't see it in this particular bit, I actually got to do some masking for it. And, modesty aside, I think they look pretty damn good! =D
I'm convinced the idea for this came up when 65pigeons and I were discussing the consequences of having Crichton around the Torchwood team (we basically agreed that Jack would be all over him and everyone of the team would be randomly tossing things to the floor just to make Crichton pick them up so they can have a look at his... leather pants :P).
I'm convinced I'll get to finish it eventually, but I still have to figure out the story here... I'm not sure if I'll have the Doc and the Farscape crew working together to fight the Daleks and the PKs, if I'll have the Daleks and the PKs fighting each other with the Doc and the Farscape crew thrown in the middle (as usual!), or if I'll have the Doc trying to stop Crichton from using the wormhole technology (so, I guess, Crichton would be the baddie here... which could be nice!).
I just have to figure that out and then I'm good to go.
... of course "that" actually means "the whole freaking vid", but oh well.
