Through a fortunate series of events, I temporarily have Internet and am using it to sign up for a fanwork exchange, as you do. Dear author, you're the very best for writing for me and thank you so much!
My previous letters are
here and my ao3 account is
here.
Please stay away from incest and underage. I tend to prefer plot to introspective character studies. I'm not into PWP, but porn as part of a story doesn't bother me. I really love canon-divergent AUs and crossovers where I am familiar with both/all the canons. I am not a fan of unrelenting grimdark and would rather there was some sort of hopeful ending. However, I don't mind and quite like bittersweet endings. I quite like worldbuilding, so long as it doesn't read like a geology textbook. Mythology/folklore is a great love of mine so if you can work that in somehow, it would be brilliant. Other tropes I like are people on opposite side caring to each other, whether in a platonic or romantic sense (friends-to-enemies or enemies-to-friends are just as good) as is playing ridiculous concepts completely straight to see where it takes you. On the whole, feel free to ignore my babble and write whatever you want.
Demon Knights
Al Jabr, Horsewoman (Demon Knights), Sir Ystin | Shining Knight
(
01-12,
13-18 & 0 and
19-23. Issue 0 is best read when the "Next time" part at the end of the issues indicates it.)
I have to say that those three are my favourite characters, but I love everyone in this bar this canon, so I would also love stories about any of the characters. Consider this permission to write for them if you feel more comfortable doing so. This prompt is applicable to everyone: what were they doing before and how did they end up in Little Spring? So is this one: adventures in History! Demon Knights shenanigans through various time periods. Another one: what happened during the thirty years timeskip?
Al Jabr: I love how smart and into science Al Jabr is, to the point where his inventions (the taser, the hot-air balloon, the rain-making thingy...) probably vastly accelerated the course of scientific discoveries in that universe. I just love that he's the kind of guy who looks at air above a fire and thinks 'how does that work?', 'how can I use it?' and ends in 'let me revolutionise medieval transportation'. So, yes, Al Jabr/Science is kind of my OTP for this series.
I would also be interested in how and why he became the ruler of Al Wadi. Did he establish the city, did he come in at the right time to save it from invaders, was this always where he was going to end up?
Horsewoman: I'm fascinated by Horsewoman's relationship with horses and how archers fit in there somehow. Can she hear what all the horses are saying or just the ones she's bonded with (and Vangard, I guess, but Vangard's a talking horse so the situation is somewhat different)? What's up with the archer thing, anyway?
I read Horsewoman and Al Jabr as becoming friends over the course of the canon, so I would love anything exploring their friendship. I've also just realised that it would be pretty entertaining if Horsewoman ended up bonded to Vangard and being Ystin's snarky magical horse roommate.
Ystin: I'd love to see something about Ystin's relationship with Camelot and Arthur. Would things have turned out differently if he had shown up in Xanadu's Camelot? The Arthur Ystin knew and the one we meet in Demon Knights are different people but he treats them as the same person and what are the consequences of that?
This prompt is inspired by Seven Soldiers of Victory (which I liked the ideas of better than the execution), but a Ystin + Zatanna team-up would be amazing, as would one with Klarion and of course, the three of them working together would be interesting.
Everyone else: I did say I also wanted fic for the other characters, so I would be remiss in in not offer prompts it that was what you wanted to write.
Cain: I'd like to know about his first meeting with Fara. Etrigan: He can bond with Vandal Savage on how annoying Jason Blood is. Exoristos: I think seeing her reconcile with the Amazons would be nice (and you can always stick tiny!Wonder Woman in there, if you want). Fara: I'm interested in her realtionship with Exoristos before she was banished: were they friends, sisters, lovers...? Hippolyta: I keep wondering if the fact that Themyscira was only saved from Cain by the timely intervention of the Demon Knights made her completely reconsider her strategy. Jason Blood: I have to admit I ship Etrigan/Xanadu/Jason as both a Xanadu-centric v-shape and a triangle, and I'm intrigued by the way this relationship works. Lucifer: I wonder if he keeps trolling the Demon Knights and/or Merlin forever in order to not be bored, or if "Demon Knights' lives" is a reality TV show in Hell. Madame Xanadu: I want her to be badass at magic and more than that, I want her to relise she's better than Merlin is, but I also want to know how she went from who we see here to who she is in Justice League Dark. Morgaine Le Fey: I'd be interested to know what her relationship with Xanadu was, back in Camelot. Questing Queen: Who is she and where did she get that army and those dragons? Vandal Savage: Of all the characters, he's the one I have the most trouble imagining doing what Merlin said and 'watch for the storm', so does he do that or does he consider he doesn't have to because he's Vandal Savage and he does what he wants? Vanguard: How much, if anything, does Vangard know about the events of canon and what does he think about them?
Discworld - Terry Pratchett
The Wintersmith, Granny Aching, Agnes Nitt, Myria Lejean, Quoth (Discworld), Death of Rats, Greebo, Great A'Tuin, Ysabell
I'm not entirely sure I've read every Discworld novel there is, because I didn't go down a list with a pen to strike out the ones I'd read, but I have read at least most of them. That said, feel free to set your fic whenever and whereever you feel is best.
Agnes Nitt: We never see Agnes again after Lords and Ladies, which is a shame, because I think she would have made an interesting contrast with Tiffany. Is she travelling the Disc with Pastor Oats or is she studying wizadry from Eskarina in Ankh-Morpork or did she become a vampire hunter or is she trying to catch a phoenix or is she off having tea with Magrat? Enquiring minds want to know! And by enquiring minds, I mean me.
Granny Aching: Everything we hear about her is second-hand, because she's dead before Wee Free Men begins and I wand to be shown, not told, what she was like. was she really an untrained witch as Granny Weatherwax seems to think, or was she just really really good with sheep? I wonder if she'll end up a god, due to all the belief the people of the Chalk have in her and all the prayers they give to her, mostly about sheep. I think her relationship with Tiffany is also interesting and I'm curious how things might have gone if she'd lived.
Death of Rats: Does the Death of Rath remember what being part of DEATH felt like? I have to admit that I also wonder what happened to the Death of Fleas after Reaper Man. I'm curious about what the Death of Rats might think of the events of The Amazing Maurice and His Educated Rodents and I'd be interested to know the Death of Rats met Quoth.
Great A'Tuin: I wonder how much, if any, awareness of Discworld itself, let alone the events on it A'Tuin has. Also, I wonder how she feels about the loss of that Fifth Elephant: does she mourn him? Does she not care? Do thje sun and moon tickle her when they pass under the Disc?
Greebo: I like the way Greebo has the option to turn into a human basically anytime he wants but doesn't, because who would want to not have claws, amirite? Has this impacted his relationship with Nanny Ogg in any way at all? Has he ever met the Death of Rats?
Myria Lejean: I was always fascinated by her arc of going from being an Auditor to being human, and how she ended preferring to die from sensory overload to being emotion-less and unfeeling. I have always wondered what happened next, whether she got an afterlife or not, if she was reincarnated, if she became Death's sidekick for a while before doing her own thing, if her inhuman nature means she became some sort of anthropomorphic personification (maybe Art or Chocolate?). I would also love to read about her relationship with Jeremy Clockson and more generally to see more about her during Thief of Time.
Quoth: I really love Quoth and the Death of Rats' friendship. I would love to know how it started or to follow the continuing adventures of the both of them. Or maybe to know about where Quoth comes from: what kind of person names their raven Quoth? Does Quoth live in DEATH's house or does he live with Susan or at Unseen University? In general, I'd quite like to know what being a talking raven feels like and how many times Quoth had to say 'nevermore' before he was sick of it.
The Wintersmith: I'll say up-front that every time I read Wintersmith, I end up shipping Tiffany/Wintersmith more and more, so if you feel like writing that I would be delighted. My favourite bits in the books were the ones where the Wintersmith tried to be human as best as he could and failed on technicalities, like singing the whole opera including the orchestra, instead of just humming the tune, so anything about him exploring his new-found sort-of humanity would be great. I'm also interested in his realtionship with the Summer Lady, and how Tiffany might have impacted it.
Ysabell: Okay, so I mostly want to know what living as DEATH's daughter is like, but I would also love to read about Ysabell and Mort raising Susan, or about Ysabell before the events of Mort. Does she ever miss her real parents? How did she notice she wasn't aging?
Locke & Key
Any (requested characters were: Bode Locke, Daniel Mutuku, Dodge | Echo, Duncan Locke, Ellen Whedon, Erin Voss, Jackie Veda, Jamal Saturday, Joe Ridgeway, Jordan Gates, Luke Caravaggio, Kinsey Locke, Nina Locke, Rendell Locke, Tyler Locke)
(
Welcome to Lovecraft,
Headgames,
Crown of Shadows,
Keys to the Kingdom,
Clockworks,
Omega and
Alpha & Grindhouse. Grindhouse is not part of the main narrative and is set decades previously.)
I've requested this canon and asked for any because I would genuinely love anything and everything dealing with that world and those characters.
Bode Locke: Bode is adorable and also kind of jerk in the way that children are and it is wonderful to read. Adventures of ghost!Bode whether pre- or post-Keys to the Kingdom would be good as would Locke family bonding over Key weirdness.
Daniel Mutuku: Detective Mutuku's No Good Very Bad Week Month Year. He's been thrown into the deep end of the Lovecraft happenings, how much of what's going on has he figured out? When he suspected Dodge of murder, what made him come to this conclusion and what possible motive did he think Dodge had?
Dodge | Echo: Dodge is literally an eldritch abomination from Lovecraft and that's fascinating. So is the way Dodge'll sometimes hum or reference songs that Luke would have known. Does this mean that Luke is still trapped inside his own head as the unwitting puppet of Dodge? I'm curious what Echo's plan would have been if Sam Lesser had never been available.
Duncan Locke: I wonder what it was like to grow up in a house where there is literally an adventure behind each door and how Duncan felt after the events of Clockworks and if he ever tried to fix things. Does he still feel guilty about that as an adult?
Ellen Whedon: I would like to read about Ellen and Kim's friendship and how it came about. Is it weird for Ellie to be working alongside Ridgeway who was her teacher when she was a student? (Please don't involve Ellen's mother in the story as child abuse is very difficult for me to read about.)
Erin Voss: Erin's character is one of the most tragic ones from the comic, so I would love some fix-it fic: maybe Kinsey makes it through the night and gives her back her memories and how does Erin deal with that? I'd also like to see any of the other plays the Lovecraft highschool might have organised in the past.
Jackie Veda: Jackie and Kinsey's friendship is one of main draws of the series for me, because it feels like a real friendship. I would happily read about their adventures or what would have happened if Kinsey had told Jackie about the Keys.
Jamal Saturday: I love that Jamal is technically the more level-headed one between him and Scot but that he's still thinks exploring deadly cabes is a brilliant idea. I'd love to read about the planning of Scot's Prom Queen speech and prank or about the first time the two of them explored the Drowning Cave.
Joe Ridgeway: I wonder what conclusion he could have come up with regarding the sudden reapperance of Luke, twenty years later. I also would like to read about what might have happened if he hadn't been killed: would he have team-up with Detective Mutuku to investigate Zack?
Jordan Gates: So! Jordan, she's pretty great. I would love love love fix-it fic for the events of Omega 5. I would also be interested in the fic where Jordan shows up unexpectedly at Tyler's wedding, because she promised to get him a great gift, didn't she? If you feel like it, I'd be intrested in reading about Jordan interacting with Bode and possibly taking him for motorcycle drives.
Luke Caravaggio: I'd like to read about Luke before Clockworks, because he seems like a good kid and reading about him after would require fix-it fic (which I would not mind at all and would quite like too). I'm also curious what roles everyone was playing in The Tempest and how they picked who's who and what Key to use.
Kinsey Locke: I would read all about the Adventures of Key Girl, Superhero with her sidekicks, the Js! (I'm thinking Jackie and Jamal, but Jordan can come too.) In less out-there ideas, I like the dynamics of Kinsey + Jackie + Jamal + Scot and want them to have shenanigans together and maybe start a trend in wearing life-jackets to school.
Nina Locke: Nina is kind of a mess but she tries so hard and she draws the line at living shadows. It's interesting that she can only see/feel/remember the effects of the Keys when she's drunk: how many times has Bode tried to talk to her? When sober, what does she think happens when she's drunk?
Rendell Locke: I'm fascinated by the repercussions of the events of Clockworks on everyone and how much they remember and what they think happened and how they deal with that. That said, I'm curious about whether the Rendell inside the Mending Cabinet is actually Rendell or not. I also wonder why Rendell felt that Keyhouse was safe, despite what happened in Clockworks.
Tyler Locke: In a way, I feel sorry for him that it turned out Zack was evil, because they looked like really good friends. So, yes, friendship fic would be great. (I love friendship!fic, can you tell?) I also would love to read the fic where Zack doesn't get away and the Locke kids have to get him to tell them what up with this Omega Gate business.
Have fun writing! I know I'll have fun reading.
