Hehehee! This was absolutely perfect! Just the right amount of snark and oh, how I needed that. XD

I laughed all the way through, but I especially liked these parts:

It had seemed such an easy promise to make. More than easy: decent, necessary. Something expected of a hero. And he was grateful for, and impressed by, all the things Snape had done for him and for Dumbledore and for the school, so he had been happy to volunteer, glad for the chance to do something for the man who had sacrificed so much to keep the son of his beloved safe.

Safe and miserable, Harry added mutinously

And, of course:

"Well"” Harry had said hesitantly, eying the picture. "He doesn't look very nice, does he?"

Ron - who did not seem to spend much time away from Hermione these days - rolled his eyes. "Harry, it's Snape we're talking about! He never looked very nice."

"No," Harry admitted. "But - "

"He's not looking particularly mean, either," Hermione interrupted. "Just... solemn. And besides he'll start moving around as soon as the painting is finished, it's not like he won't be able to smile if he wants to."

"I hope he doesn"t," Ron muttered. "Snape smiling never meant anything good."
